Your opinion on Emerson knives?

Fair enough, I guess every manufacturer can make that clam then. Sounds, good I guess if someone's trying to toot their own horn.
Well those dealers bought them from EKI 😀

Of couse they can. Every company toots their own horn too. They are trying to sell knives and stay in business.

I get it, you don't like Emerson knives or Ernest himself. That's cool. I feel the same about Cold Steel and Lynn.

I just happen to own and carry (honestly every day) a Mini 15 for the past year and a half. I find it a great knife, does everything I need it too. Hasn't fallen apart or needed any factory repair. So for me it was worth the price.

Rock steady, you're cool in my book. I may not like liner locks but I can appreciate his designs. Hell I even agree with SOME of his ideological views. Some guys get crazy over this topic though lol

Yeah, no need for crazy--right Shinyedges, on that we agree! And yeah, much like Todd21969, an Emerson has been my daily carry for a very long time. I gave a Para2 a try for a while, and it was fine, but I quickly returned to my Emerson. It suits me, I make no delusional claims about it... and it just works for me. I think it looks pretty cool too. This thread is still kickin, huh? Has the OP reported back--I'm curious to hear his assessment.

I tried a PM2 as well. Great for what it is, but wasn't for me either. I like a little more meat on the tip for more utilitarian tasks. I was stuck on the zt Emerson collaborations for a year and half or more. But recently started just machining pocket openers for knives I liked that didn't have them. I too am surprised this train is still rolling, but I'd wager the civility we've kept has something to do with it.

Crazies on both sides on this forum 😀

Saw your wave mod in another thread. Pretty cool.

I can't bring myself to buy a ZT/Emerson collab. I am over frame locks, carried a ZT0301 every single day for a year. Now I much prefer G10 on both sides.

Love my Para2 but the Mini 15 regulated it to secondary carry. Though more often than not my Military is my second knife. It's in my waistband now. Mini 15 in it's usual spot too.

True, the diversity of the forum is one of its assets in my opinion. As long as people don't let emotion rule their responses and people can talk about the differences of opinion even disagreements can be a good conversation.

Lol... I agree. Which is why I stay out of every Cold Steel Test/Lynn Thompson thread. 😀

Don't stay out of them! Say how you feel, I do. And I don't like ole pig slasher either. I think his San Mai lawsuit letters were freaking ridiculous, but don't get me started.

The spec ops people I worked in the army with were serious, highly capable people . . . with largely unimpressive taste in knives....

THIS! ....and 90% have never seen ANY action but 100% of them will tell you they have.....

Something ....something .....(enter Strider joke) :)

I've owned 3 in the past. CQC 7, 8, and 10 I believe.
I loved the ergonomics, lock was OK, price was a bit high for black G10 and 154CM but the thing I couldn't get past on any of them was the chisel grind was on the wrong side. Aside from scales pictures there were zero reasons to grind on that side and it significantly affected my use of the knives. At the time I used my knives a lot to cut the sharp corners off of the CNC parts I was milling from plastic. Any knife did this well except Emerson. And it could have been the best at the task if they were ground on the correct side.

I've tracked this issue over the years and it feels like Ernie has spent so much time saying the side of the grind doesn't matter that he can't change it now. Stubbornness.

I have not been able to get past it, myself. That is way I don't own a CQC7.

Na nvm.

And you were entirely correct. Watch out, an elite Emerson Internet commando could come for you if you point out the obvious silliness of "sucky knife must be great because unit X uses it".

I like this thread, it's been fun. Between this one and the Sheepdog one, I've seen about a 3:1 ratio between people who've recognized the failings of these knives and people who are blind, rabid supporters of Ernie's amazing tactical operator tools, and that warms my cold, black little heart and gives me hope for us all.

Who are you projecting this towards? I can't recall one person in this thread exhibiting the behavior or mindset of "Emerson Internet commando".

SEALS have used Emerson knives. It's a documented fact. Deal with it. That doesn't make them good nor bad, and certainly doesn't mean anything to me (not a SEAL) and what I need or use a knife for on a daily basis. Nor do Emerson's or "SEAL knives" trip my trigger in terms of simply fondling/flicking/flipping a knife throughout the day for enjoyment. Like I said, I have two Emerson's in the safe and can't remember the last time I touched either one of them.

I'm so lost why people keep bringing this ninja fanboy stuff up, and can only think it's done for the typical BF cool guy elitism and posturing reasons. If we're simply stereotyping the personalities of manufacture fanboys rather than opining on the knives themselves, then maybe we should make a separate thread because I have my own opinions not germane to the OP's topic which is Emerson knives.

It is kind of funny where folks who like a knife will post once or twice and move on where those who don't like it make it their mission to post on every page their displeasure and to do it in a real snarky way so that you know that they know that anyone who does like that particular brand or knife is either a sucker, or a wanna be, or has some other massive character or intellectual flaw.

Check the 12 days of Medford thread for a rerun of this mindset.

I'm still curious how people who buy flippers are "had"?

Well, ok. I guess

The mirror can be an ugly place. I suggest a nice seasonal flower arrangement to get a sense of nature so the cold hard truth is less jarring.
