Your opinion on Emerson knives?

Well at least you've calmed down. Better late than never I guess to quote and respond with absolutely nothing. I brought up the zt, I don't care that you didn't bring it up. Is there a rule that when quoting someone the reply is strictly prohibited from containing content not brought up by the poster? Further discourse with you on this topic is going no where.

Dont see, why I should comment on it in a previous post. Im fine with a chisel ground no matter which side its on. It has a chisel grind for a reason, as others have stated, but I dont currently own a chisel ground Emerson, so dont care. Wouldnt care which side it was on, if I owned one either but my current Emerson is a V grind.

We've pretty much covered the ground, so no. I elaborated on the 'intended use' but which you mentioned (Id already covered that, so no need to repeat it) and the ZT comparison in the post you hint at, has already been covered at well, as I never mentioned ZT in the post of mine, which you quoted.

Exactly.

Some people would want to know what underwear seals are wearing. "Well, a seal team 6 member was seen wearing fruit of the loom!" Must be the best tactical underwear on earth!
Them along with just about every other knife brand.

Emerson CQC-7A knife in practice:

+ simple screws
+ comfortable handle
+ good pocket clip
+ nice design

- Very soft steel , gets scratches easily
- thick grind, it's more prybar than a knife, but why you need folding prybar?
- single edge on wrong side, not so easy to sharpen
- liner lock made of ti is rather soft and worn out easily, especially when you flick it open
- fit and finish worse than in chinese counterfeits
- price is around $200 - you can buy for that money ZT with ti framelock and S35VN
- thumb disc isn't superrior to thumb stud, but maybe it look cool when you customize it with some custom .45 disc
- handle is too big in comparison to blade, or blade is too short

Mine is after regrind, resharpening and refinishing

Some people probably would want to know what underwear they use, but I don't think any of those people are in this thread, so what's your point?

My point is marketing sucks in the suckers and people want to feel like they use the hard core operator stuff.

And you were entirely correct. Watch out, an elite Emerson Internet commando could come for you if you point out the obvious silliness of "sucky knife must be great because unit X uses it".

I like this thread, it's been fun. Between this one and the Sheepdog one, I've seen about a 3:1 ratio between people who've recognized the failings of these knives and people who are blind, rabid supporters of Ernie's amazing tactical operator tools, and that warms my cold, black little heart and gives me hope for us all.

Funny and true.

Can't knock Ernie from a business perspective though. Damn he reeled in many a folks and made himself a fortune. Marketing master in my book.

The only mistake Emerson's ever made is producing flipper knives.

Any knife that employs opening method is a joke and 95% of the people who've bought them are either sheep who can't recognize they've been had by marketing or they aren't actually knife users and should stick with spinners or some other pocket trinket.

Flipper isn't always bad thing.

+ flipper is also a hand guard
+ knife with only flipper mostly don't have thumbstud or thumb hole, so blade is little stronger without any additional holes

ZT 0909 is an example of no bullshit flipper for me.

I'm legitimately curious as to why you think that? For me Flippers are another method of opening the knife... nail nicks, easy opens, thumb studs, buttons, wave, thumb disk, flippers.... all open the knife.

How are people who buy flippers "had" ? Were they being sold the flipper under some marketing that said it would do something it doesn't actually do? From my point of view it functions exactly as advertised. Now lets talk about people being duped, "1# hard use knife in the world" is a stretch at best. What exactly is it number 1 at? What kind of hard use does it take that other knives won't?

I'd like to maintain a level headed conversation so my post isn't meant to be abrasive, just genuinely inquiring.

The Flipper has it's place and what ourgon said.
"We sell every knife we make." Emerson.
