Your opinions on Nutnfancy

I indeed noticed the pop up adverts on his channel, but I don't see the problem with that?

There's really no problem with it in general. I just don't like to reward behavior that I dislike. I recently read how much money people with millions of YouTube views are making and it just goes against my grain to contribute to his. I don't think badly of anyone who does. And I'm happy that humble, gracious people like Equip2Endure can support their videos with this sort of income.

As with any review or reviewer, I pay as close to Zero attention on the reviewer and focus as close to 100% of my attention on the item of my interest to the point where I often mute the review especially when the mundane verbosity takes over.
I am seeking hard facts and 3 dimensional movement of the item. If it is dis-assembled and re-assembled that is a bonus.
That's my review of reviews. ;)

I don't dislike the guy but for knife reviews there are far better, in my opinion. My favorite reviewer is actually solos. For "gear" reviews I like equippedtoendure as well. Overall, nutnfancy is youtube/knife community known. In the grand scheme of things, who really cares eitherway. If you like him cool, if not, that's cool too.

I don't mind if other people have different opinions. It's just this whole hate-team and all that really gets to me - it's childish and asinine. If you don't like him, feel free to say so - just don't make a big deal out of it. Seems like most of us here at bladeforums are smart enough to know that

Equip2Endure is also great :thumbup::thumbup:

I never understood the people who go out of their way to bring nutnfancy down... I guess they are probably jealous and have too much free time

Id say go for Equip2Endure,,but I may be biased

I agree with what he said.

Aside from anything else, his voice just annoys me too much to watch that much. I tried to watch a vid, but after 3-4 minutes the voice just annoys me too much.

His reviews may be long, but as he said, if you don't like them, go elsewhere. I think the longer reviews are easier to gather information from.

This is exactly what I do, I go elsewhere. If it takes you 45 minutes to read a product stats blurb, then public education has failed. Nutnfancy just seems like a middle aged man trying to take advantage of youtube's advertising.

Personally I have watched several of his video's and I would say he is someone who really enjoys his following. I really think this guy is the definition of a mall ninja. I have seen his shooting video's and I will tell you one thing for certain the guy is not an operator of any kind.

I prefer Nutn's long reviews to reviews that leave you wanting...

"hey guys this is my Spyderco Military. It's really sharp and stuff...
OK thanks for watching!"

97% of the reviews on youtube don't tell me anywhere near enough about the product.

Well said.

I don't know much about the 'real' Nutnfancy, and I really don't care. He's got a good camera though, so I'll watch a Nutnfancy video along with fifty others that showcase the knife I'm interested in. That said, I'll skip the ‘run 'n gun’ and 'deep thoughts' type videos, thankyouverymuch. Definitely not my cup o’ tea.

If you do not like him or his Videos,,,, don't watch them!

It is easy to sit in armchair quarterback and criticize and it another to take the time to get out there and make videos.

Long, yes, detailed yes opinionated yes, though he admits it.

I could criticque other popular unmaned video gurus that lurk here as easily if not more easily if i wished. I take a bit from each and make my own opinions. Watching them help as I can't without a 2 hour drive go to a decent knife store with stock to touch what knife I would want.

I don't watch them all, don't chat it up in comments section, but Nutnfancy is entertaining, and has provided a great service to many on this board, and expanded the hobby by bringing many new people to it.

Like any public figure you put yourself out there for others to criticize.

I will admit I admire his work and effort.

There was a funny Youtube animation linked from here featuring two cartoon characters with big round heads talking about things tactical. One was smart and one was the definition of an internet mall ninja. Funny stuff.

Being LEO and ex-military and reviewing things that LEO or military might use is not the definition of mall ninja. Having said that, I find the tactical vids boring, and there are too many of them. Watching guys shoot metal in the desert isn't my thing.

If anyone could link to the aforementioned animated vid I'd appreciate it.

Nutnfancy's reviews might be long-winded but many of them are very informative. And he puts a lot of effort, time and enthusiasm in it.

If you don't like the guy, don't waste your time by clicking on his vids. If you think you know better, please start a channel and expose yourself to countless other bored individuals on the net.

May he live long, Nutnfancy.

I agree.

While I'm not going to bash anyone who takes the time to do a review, far too many of them show you the knife, spin it around a few times, open-close-repeat, and then ask you to subscribe.

I don't have a local knife store that is willing to let you handle knives so I cannot form a opinion, I rely of reviewers to show me the best knives and the best value. I happen to agree with nutnfancy on most things, weight and tactical abilities are notable exemptions but I still find his reviews invaluable.

He pointed me towards the Ontario Rat 1 which I like better then all my Sogs, Spydercos, and Kershaws combined. Nobody here would have made such a recommendation.

I only watch knife reviews on You Tube to see the knife in action and the proportion of it compared to someones hand...

I usually listen with the sound off....

Well, nutnfancy puts quite some effort in his clips (from my own experience, you need to prepare to make a decent review), just as for example a writer would would spend time writing a book. In both cases, I don't mind that the creator earns something for his/her efforts. As long as their output is worthwhile.

Hello Dagon,

YOUR reviews are excellent. I, for one, wouldn't be upset about clicking ads on your vids. You ought to consider this. I'm very jealous of your collection and look forward to watching more of your reviews.
