Your opinions on Nutnfancy

I had no problem with him when his reviews were ten minutes about the knife. however, when he has a 25 minute review on a knife where the first 10 minutes are him talking about the fit and finish and his opinion of the company that made the product, i'm not interested. he has stopped reviewing and has started pontification with opinions thrown in.

Well, nutnfancy puts quite some effort in his clips (from my own experience, you need to prepare to make a decent review), just as for example a writer would would spend time writing a book. In both cases, I don't mind that the creator earns something for his/her efforts. As long as their output is worthwhile.

I agree that he puts a lot of effort into it and I don't begrudge anyone who watches them. It's ideological on my part. The OP asked our views and that's a part of mine.

Well, knife reviewers are pretty rare on the internet, so I accept all that is offered to me. He might annoy the **** out of me with his weight complaints and lack of blade steel knowledge, but honestly, it's his deal.

Regardless, I watch his videos to ogle at knives.

My honest opinon is this....I enjoy his reviews for the pure and simple fact that he is thorough....if he didn't cover each knife quite so well though I wouldn't spend my time on his reviews. I can't complain about much except for his style and personality...these two traits really bug me. I feel like he has too much money on his hands and is often too subjective for my tastes...His own opinon, which many hold in high regard doesn't interest me very much, and yet he spends much of his time on his own opinion. I also feel like the sheer amount of reviews he does is more of a way to show off his own buying power than anything else. Other than that I like him...I just wish he had a bit more of an objective viewpoint on knives and let others form their own opinions....remember that your own opinon is probably much more relavant to your situation than anyone else's. Anywho my complaints are mostly nitpicky. I think his knife overviews are good and I especially like that he does shot show interviews so that people can get an inside look at shot show if you dont qualify to go.

I find I disagree with him often and I'd put him in the 'stabby guy' slot.
Nevertheless, my contributions to the knife world couldn't be smelled if I ate four pounds of beans.
Lets hope he is more of a good thing than a bad thing.

Dagon has excellent reviews, IMHO.
Perhaps Nutto could tone it down a bit to appeal to a much larger audience.

Being LEO and ex-military and reviewing things that LEO or military might use is not the definition of mall ninja. Having said that, I find the tactical vids boring, and there are too many of them. Watching guys shoot metal in the desert isn't my thing.

You keep saying he's a LEO, but in the very beginning of his video "The Concealed Carry Protocol" (46 minutes long....) he says:

"... some attendant responsibilities I have found in my eighteen years as a civilian concealed carry permit holder..."

I'm fairly sure he's military, not a LEO. And has a civilian CCP, of course, as many members of the military do.

General Knife Discussion is for discussing knives. Since this is about a knife reviewer, I'm going to move it to Knife Reviews.

Please do not blind-link to Whine & Cheese because inappropriate content may lie at the other end of the link, and in the case of post # 2, that's exactly the case.

I like his reviews and his philosophy vids. I benefit by seeing detailed reviews of products that I wouldn't get to see otherwise. I may not like everything he likes or dislike everything he dislikes but I still find his vids helpful in making my purchase decisions. His philosophy vids show what a nice guy he is and that helping others is what he is about. Maybe all the haters should make their own reviews... I bet very few could match him.

I hate how everything he reviews has to have some use as a weapon or he gives it a crap review. I also hate how he feels the need to make a feature film out of every review. And while he claims to have tons of outdoors expirience with all sorts of tools a have very rarely seen him demonstrate proper technique with knives and especially not with axes and he comes off as extremely arrogant. And for all the fanboys who say that he is the only one with lots of high quality reviews you should search around a bit and you find many more less opinionated reviewers on youtube

I've found that his reviews are almost tolerable if I mute the volume. Otherwise, I lose interest about 10sec in.

To be fair, I feel the same about most reviews on Youtube. Guess I'm a grouchy old fart...but at least I don't think my opinion on anything is worth 10 minutes of time on Youtube. Hell, it's not even worth the time you took to read this post. ;)

I mostly use my own knowledge when it comes to Knives. I usually just listen for key information about lock up, issues, etc. While visually inspecting the thing.
Otherwise he is polite. And funny.
Keep em comin..

He's said he's some kind of LEO many times. When he was focused on USAF, he was civilian CCW.

I'm fairly sure he's military, not a LEO. And has a civilian CCP, of course, as many members of the military do.

He's retired from USAF and has transitioned to LEO.

He did one axe vid, no? It's arrogant to say for his system [long hiking trips with tons of other sh-t] an axe doesn't work, as he uses a sawvivor and large knife. He said for other systems an axe is fine. did you even watch the vid, or are you reiterating what others have said that likely didn't watch it either.

He has actually used an axe on many occasions and has never seemed to have much luck with using it properly and I have watched the entire video and if you do you will notice he is using a splitting axe and yet he writes off all axes because of one type and one brand. To me that would be like saying you shouldn't use a butter knife to spread butter because you tried it once with a machete and it was a pain in the butt. I could go on all day about things I don't like about nutnfancy but I gave my opinion as was asked and I'm now gonna leave it at that

Edit: I will add that I have not watched his reviews on tactical gear or gun related stuff so I cannot comment on that but for his knife and outdoor gear reviews he seems very opinionated and not very knowledgable about most of the things he reviews

Do you remember why he was using a splitting axe?
