I had to wait till I was drinking to decide to peek in here, because let's face it, y'all can be nuts.. Now I wanna sober up to get a better look at this thread.

Cut a clip into the tip and sharpen it... Make it a mini-bowie with polished micarta scales and a kydex sheath. Strip, high polish, gun blue, brass hardware.

Id like to see just a draw knife added on it, and maybe a hole in the top of the blade... but then if you added g10 scales similar to your yumas then it be killer!

I think you should leave it just like it is and not even strip it---Thats a mod you dont see too often--:D
I think I need to read through the entire thread right before I post a new idea cuz this great idea comes to me (the mini m18) so I add it then see it mentioned 3 more times---we gotta stop hanging out here together so much guys--we are starting to think as one person ----

Ok, if I could have a 14 made any way I want it I would want a BK-14 Bushcrafter, a BK-14B. Please excuse my drawing 'skills':

Maybe not the most outlandish idea but it would be my dream 14.

Thanks for the chance Hunt, really cool GAW I had fun drawing it out.

Well then, here's a second idea. BE WARNED, the picture is extremely incomplete.

n55z8.jpg

Hypothetically I:

-Reground the blade so that blade height is reduced a lot.
-Recurve in the blade for slicing.
-Full high convex, everything polished (Could not show this in picture)
-I'd try to keep the logo's, but I'm unsure if this would be possible. If not possible, it would be nicer to just polish/sand them out instead of having half of a logo.
-Removed the lower part of the handle, only kept straight line of the upper part of the handle. This should be enough strength for the intended purpose.
-Add an (antique) cherry wood handle, with brass pins. (Not in picture)

This, in my opinion, would be quite the knife for cutting baguettes and other harder bread products when I'm on day trips. I'm sure my girlfriend would love it.
The recurved belly adds some power to dragcutting, the knife is slim and unobtrusive. No need for choils, jimping or anything alike.

 The knife looks great to me and I would only want to use it as an emergency knife. The skeleton design is great. my suggestions:
1. make the knife highly resistant to corrosion by using an appropriate steel or finish. I live near salt water and could see the knife used for boating, fishing or SCUBA diving.
2. check that the handle opening is of an appropriate size and shape to be used as an emergncy shackle key for boating,
3. have at least one hexagonal cutout to fit 1/4 inch hexagonal screwdriver bits and other 1/4 inch drive gadgets. I carry a small Pocketwrench II prybar and 1/4 inch drive tool. I also suggest that the knife have SAE and metric scale markings so that it can be used as a ruler.
4. fine grooves on the handle to prevent slipping when in use.
5. if it needs a name, call it Sea Survivor

Great idea, Todd & thanks, Murph for your "donation!" I was sitting here thinking about the typical orange G10 tacticool-camping knife, but then I had a totally different blade pop into my mind....

First off, it needs to be stripped. That's a given.
As far as actual mods:
Instead of jimping, some nice file work half the way down the spine and around the handle right up to the ricasso.
It needs to be clipped, but instead of the typical bowie style clip, I think the style of a "Lanny's clip" would suit it fine. The file work could extend down the spine to meet the grind lead off of the clip. I imagine the edge might need to be thinned out some.
The blade will need some nice brown leather, so the handle scales should be natural micarta or wood (Not too sure what kind. Too many good options), but with tong hole tubing instead of pins.
The blade would need a nice dark patina.
Like I said, it will need some brown leather pants... I'm thinking a pocket style sheath or a lower profile sheath with a pocket clip.

I really need to get out of this apartment and to a workshop.... I think sooner or later, this one is going to have to happen.

I'm in!

I would go with a stripped, acid washed and blued blade with a nice straight clip similar to the BK 7 with snake scale carved bone (or similar stable material) scales with hidden pins. Round off the corners on the guard to make it a little more finger friendly, taper the scales a bit to let the thumb settle in while doing detailed tasks. Smoothed, rounded spine, but sharp corners on the clip for scraping and such.

I'd set it up with a snake skin inlay-ed sheath with bee's waxed leather. Make that little work horse a classic little blade that everyone would be jealous of, but you could still work the snot out of it!

How about the hollow survival handle I suggested earlier but have the cap with the same size threads as a broom stick. That way you can just screw on the knife to make a spear. After the handle is welded on maybe polish it all and lathe out some grooves for O-rings, maybe nurel the handle as well for grip. I will draw and upload a picture tonight

I'm still reading guys. Good stuff. I just can't believe this thread has had over 1700 hits but only 70 replies. Come on guys. Don't be shy. I'm giving sh!t away for crying out loud. It don't cost to throw your idea in. Dazzle me. Challenge me. Its gonna be yours when I'm done!

Ok Todd,

Turn it into a cats claw, File worked and Hard Chromed with mother of pearl handles. Hollow ground in the curve of the claw so its razor sharp. with a hole through the top of the handle that I can put a rod through to actually hold it like a claw....
Hows that ?

Make it a curly straw! Seriously, drill a hole from tip to tail and make it so I can use it for a straw! You could drink blood straight from the source!

Strip it
Polish it
Clip Point
Blue Silver Twill Carbon Fiber Handles and...
Turn the thumb hole into a ratchet wrench!!!
