For me I don't have anything set in stone but I do have a small list of possible buys ...
I recently added a CRK Umnumzaan to my CRK collection (and not sure that is the right word as it's not really a collection but the small group of CRKs I own and use) ... and it has quickly become my favorite CRK ... so I think there will be another Umnumzaan added in 2018 ...
During my questions and inqueries and in members replies in my considering buying an Umnumzaan ... the Mnandi definately was put on my radar ... I think it may be a bit small for my hand but it may make a nice knife to carry on those rare occasions I want a bit smaller "gentlemans knife" ...
One that I am definately hoping to buy this year is a CPK Field Knife 2.0 if Nathan releases it ... picked up a couple of the EDC2s in the preorder can't wait to get them soon and put them to work ...
I would also like to find a Becker BK15 with the stamped not etched blade for a project for a family member ... and I'd love it to be stripped but if not I can always strip it later ...
Another Bradford Guardian 4 or possibly the 3.5 after it is released depending on how it turns out for hand fit ...
And then probably my next purchase will be a new hunting knife ... I have several I already use and enjoy ... but I am looking for one a little nicer ... with CMP154 blade as my #1 preference or ATS-34 or maybe S35VN blade steel ... a good stainless with decent edge holding and that is easy to touch up and sharpen ... and nice wood handle scales ... I'm currently looking at a Larry Page or Wayne Hendrix knife ...
but I'm also watching a couple makers that sell here on our forums sometimes whose work has really caught my attention ... Carl Colson and John April ... I think I'd be lucky to get a chance at a nice hunter from either.
And should I win the lottery (in which case I would order a round for the forums on me!) ... one knife (within reason) for each paying member ... that would be on the top of things I'd love to do with that kind of money ... since so many have welcomed me and taught me some things. And in that case mine would be a nice Wharncliffe model slip joint of some sort from Todd Davidson ...
And other than those I will actually be thinning my knives down a bit ... selling duplicates or knives that just never got used or weren't quite what I hoped after I got ahold of them.
Here's to a great 2018 for knives ... and for our families and friends ...
