Your Two Cents!

Charlie,

Our pleasure kind Sir, it really is!

The old English penny is an exact copy of one that Jack and I share - its travelled between us 3 times now, soon to be four!
I do owe you those coins Charlie!

I am so Rapt that the parcel made it!

Received for the giving of a Case knife, I pictured this coin with some other Case knives. Some familiar sentiments in the coin's "statements".

A good example of a nice coin, from Mr Bad Example!!:D

Thanks, Brian!!

That's a pretty cool coin Charlie!

A few weeks back, a package arrived containing among other things this lovely standing liberty quarter:

Thank You jon_slider for this very touching gesture! I was quite surprised to behold this one :)

and the Dutch coin actually showed up today from Spydutch, it is a pre-euro quarter from the Netherlands!

Very cool! Thank You Spydutch! I've always had a thing for non US coins, and would always get excited when I would spot one in circulation. I sent Spydutch a clip point Boys knife a while back, hoping he would get some use from it, and he sais he has been carrying it everyday, a good fate for a knife in my eye. Getting the nice letter from you and the coin made me ponder a bit, and to be happy in the knowledge that you are enjoying your new pocketknife :)

Boy, I could get used to this! Just send a knife to someone, and money comes back to you! I could get Rich I tell you, RICH! Bwahahahaha!!

Where was I? Ummmmm . . . . . . .
Jon is going to have to change his avatar to Standing Liberty! Thanks for the nice two bits, Jon!!
And thanks very much for the Boker!

A very special Boker it is! It is one of the spiritual ancestors of the Third Cut Stag Barlows! I was hoping for a similar look.
Some are radically different, but they are nice. The one pictured however, is a proverbial chip off the old block!! Thanks for letting me look after this knife for a while, Jon! It is cool to see them sitting next to each other - Grandma and Grandson!

Good on you Jon.
That Boker looks to be in great condition. I can't see the Tang stamp on that Boker- please correct me if I am wrong - but you can tell by the Tree - such as thicknesses of branches etc???

Jon has certainly been a busy fellow! Charlie, that pic of the TC and Boker together is pretty cool!

I can't see the Tang stamp on that Boker

The only tang marking on the stag marrow Boker is 492. I have not found any info to date Bokers by the type of tree on the bolster. I tried to get input in this thread, http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1137992 My guesstimate is that the stag marrow Boker is circa 1950's

Really happy to share the Boker with Charlie, for may reasons, and having fun taking Liberties with Charlie and Duane by sharing some traditional USA silver currency :-)

It is cool to see it sitting next to its Grammpa!

Im slightly confused by the reference to grandfather as I consider your notched knife the one you're referring to, but you did not post it with the Boker (yet):

More Marrow Stag! Remember this one?

so true!:-) At approximately the same time that you and Charlie helped reduce my accumulation by accepting Boker gifts, I received a pair of grail knives, this Stag Barlow gifted by the incredibly generous Charlie, Thank You!

Update, the postwoman just delivered 3 coins from sitflyer. A pair of 47 year old coins, a Canadian Silver Dollar and a Canadian Copper penny, both from 1967, Plus a German 5 Pfennig from 1875! The beautiful 139 year old German coin is from one year before the first Russell Barlow was produced. These coins are gifts in acknowledgement of a Boker I sent Duane, pictured with my only remaining Boker. Tangentially, my father was born in Germany.

Thank You for your continuing extreme generosity and personal warmth, Duane! You have given me great food for reflection.

Glad they made the trip safely Jon! :) Funny, I was going through my small collection of odds & ends, and looking for "animal" themed coins for you, not really sure why, then I found the two German coins, same date on both, and it kind of spoke to me to include itself...

On another note, the Canadian Tooie, or is it twoee, or maybe touwee! Charlie sent me a coin for a knife gift a while back, and I love it!

Back when I was living in New Hampshire, I would take trips on my motorcycle up to the north country every summer, often slipping across the border to cruise the countryside in Canada. Some years I'd take the ferry up to Nova Scotia and ride around camping for a week or two, and would always come home with a few Canadian coins in my pockets. My favorites are the twoies :)
But what is this?...Charlie also sent me a Harness jack!

Oh my, what a beautiful knife Charlie! The execution on this one is superb! Clever grinds on the awl, I love it.

I am really stunned and speechless over this gesture, and in awe of how well thought out this knifes design is. You are too kind Charlie.

Thank You for this wonderful gift! I love it :)

Just lovely coins and knives, Jon and Duane!! Love the Pfennig bird...wow. Had to look that one up.

I received a nice letter from PMEW in the week, and by one of life's happy coincidences I happened to be carrying the Queen Canoe he sent me a while back, and so used that to open the envelope. Besides Paul's letter was a 1918 British pre-decimal 3d coin - a silver threepenny bit :)

This coin went out of circulation soon after I was born. My great grandmother on my father's mother's side died when I was just a baby, and was very old when I was born. My mother has a photo of her holding me in her arms when I was just a few days old. When I was born she gave my parents a silver threepenny bit to give to me, but sadly, as with so many things, it was lost many years ago. Now I have another to keep anyway :) Thanks Paul, I'll write soon

I'm glad I was able to spark old memories and replace lost treasures Jack :)

A little more than two cents; some nice exotic pictures of significant people, and a graceful wading bird you might see in Belize!

Money as art - glad you like the Harness Jack, Duane!

Charlie, I think that is a frigate bird. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frigatebird They are quite impressive in the air, males can reach up to 2.3 meter wingspans! I have been fascinated by foreign paper currency since childhood. My souvenirs tend to be but a few bills when I travel.

Last week a most generous gift showed up from joeymoey here on the forum. A really sweet GEC 661311 in Blood jig Bone :)

IMG_7097800x455_zps5a45dae4.jpg

I carried this knife exclusively for the past week, and it has rekindled my fondness for the stockman pattern. Upon putting it into the tube today, I spied something that had escaped my attention previously. Taped to the inside cap was...

What could possibly be better than two cents?

IMG_7129800x533_zps241172eb.jpg
