I have not handled either oif these two and am trying to make a decision. I like the Strider SNG but the cost is a bit to much and i would have to wait to afford one. On the other hand I can afford a Zero Tolerance 0302 and might feel better saving the extra $$.

Get the 302 you won't regret it.

I've never handled a strider, but I have felt the awesome power of the 302. Great knife, played with it at a show, it's lockup is crazy. Warranty is great too. Striders I think, are a little too blown up.

I have ben thinking about this as well. From what I've gathered, both are just as bomb proof. Those who have both seem to prefer the blade shape and ergos of the Strider.

I think the SnG costs too much. The main complaint is that for the size and weight of the knife you only get a 3" cutting edge.

Is the 302 bigger and heavier than the SNG?

It looks to bulky for EDC.

I can't compare to the SNG, but the 302 is bulky and heavy.
Also consider the cheaper ZT200.

Anyway, ZT knives are near indestructible.

That's a question that only you can answer. Different people have different preferences. That's like asking a group of people if a certain gun has too harsh of recoil, many could say no while others will say yes.

As far as the SnG / ZT0302 comparison goes, here's the way I look at it. The only similarity between the two besides the obvious (Ti Frame lock & S30V) is the overall closed length. Meaning when it's in your pocket they will take up about the same amount of space (granted the SnG is a bit shorter).

The SnG has a cutting surface of a little under 3", the ZT has almost a full 1" more. The ZT also has a recurve blade shape, which again comes down to preference. I like recurves because they have a large "sweet spot" and make for a very effective cutting edge that's comparable to a larger knife that doesn't use the recurve blade. Basically you get more knife in a shorter package, although it does have a disadvantage as some people, not all, report that recurves are harder to sharpen.

Lets see what else, the ZT has a steel liner on the G10 side and the SnG does not. The SnG has a large choil that really allows you to choke up on the blade. The SnG is a lighter knife. The ZT uses Kershaw's assisted opening system. The ZT is considerably cheaper, almost half the price of a SnG. So as you can see the two knives are actually quite different and for a lot of people the choice comes down to preference and how big their bill fold is.

First let me say that I never owned a ZT. Not because I don't like them but due to a legal issues of blade length, as well as size...8oz's is a pocket full and I'm not a fan of AO's, I looked passed them. However I do have a Strider SnG, and yes it is expensive. It took me a couple years and a few trades to get it, but to me it is my perfect EDC. It carries very well, and the ergo's are superb. I personally don't need any more than 3" of cutting edge, YMMV, and I really like having the choil. For me getting the SnG was money well spent. Now if ZT/Kershaw made a smaller 3" mini 301/302, I may have a different opinion.

Had both, kept the SnG. The ZT carries a bit too big in my pocket in both size and weight.

Matador-

IMHO, a horizontal-mount belt pouch is the only way to carry any large folder weighing over 4 or so ounces....it makes the weight and bulk almost disappear.

Definitely the ZT. I love my 0300.

I have not held the SnG though, but the ZT has some things going for it.

If you wear jeans, the ZT is not bad at all, it hides its weight quite nicely for me, and I really don't notice it. I'm not a "big" guy either.

SNG hands down!

It's well worth the extra scratch. I have had 3 or 4 300s, and so many SNGs I stopped counting.

A reprofiled SNG will cut with the best of them(and that's what a knife does 90% of the time.) The 300 ZT is way too thick, they hack and chop more than cut. The ZT rattles when locked up.. That's the AO bar rattling, completely normal and completely annoying!

I hate AO knives! It's just not my thing at ALL. The ZT feels like a brick in your pocket, SNG CC, or DGG will disappear in your pocket.

Weight ... SNG wins
Edc..........SNG wins
Better cutter.. SNG wins

Both do share a few of the same.. S30V, Ti framelock, great lockup, "no bull" you break it we fix it, both feel great in your hand, and... both look mall ninja... Both can get the job done.

I just think the SNG does it better, and it should at the price they have on them. Now if you really are looking into the two, hold a Strider before you buy! Get in on a pass around, drive two hours if you have to, they are NOT for everyone! Scratches, dings.. Rough opening (untill they are broke in) and when in hand they just may not do it for you.

BTW, a search here would pull up a TON of threads just like this one.

I've got a ZT200 and have owned 2 Striders. Imho, the 200 and I realize one is a liner lock vs. frame lock etc. but for me the 200 is better. I have had an AR, a very very heavy duty knife but big to carry and an RC. Both Striders exhibited excellant fit and finish unlike others I have heard tell. But the 200 is just a nice thick liner locking heavy duty cutting folder that well just works for me. thanks and keepem sharp

A Sng all the way, had a 300 too heavy, have a 200 and love it. The Sng is smaller, lighter, and has the Strider boys backin em'.
