Zero Tolerance 0302 vs. Strider SNG

I hate AO and recurves so it's SnG all the way! Plus, I love my SnG, it gets more pocket time than any of my knives.

New to the forum and came across this thread while researching Striders.

ZT 301 vs Strider SNG seems like a bad comparison. The better comparison would be to a Strider RC. It is closer in size, has similar recurve spear point blade, similar handle shape.

I actually prefer the ZT 301 because of the flipper which when the blade is extended, prevents the hand from riding up onto the blade in the case of a wet, muddy or bloody situation.

Thoughts?

ive ordered a zt0300. anxiously awaiting its arrival. comparing it to the strider wasnt in my thoughts when i bought it. i just wanted a big badass blade. What i did compare to the strider was the Hest dpx folder that i also have on order for $175, i plan to carry the zt0300 in a sheath that i will make for it. so it will ride on my belt and no pocket concerns. the hest seem like it will be more comfortable in pocket. more strider like, as far as size and weight.

New Striders from dealers are overpriced and you roll the dice with the fit. Of the 10 "new, never used" or so Strider folders I've owned, at least half had considerable play in the blade and one custom NM SnG direct from the table didn't have loc-tite on the loose pivot screw and it fell out... oops.

If you're not used to carrying and using an expensive knife, it can be hard to get over at first.

I'd say get the ZT or a well used SnG

I'm not a fan of assisted openers. Also, I find the ZT's to be more bulky. However, the SnG is just as solid if not even more so. Would I say there's a huge difference in quality relative to the price difference? no. In my opinion though, the SnG is just a better general use knife for the reasons others have stated- lighter, more ergonomic, carries better etc. Unless you have to sell a kidney to get it, i'd say save up a bit for the Strider.
