Zero Tolerance 0427 LE

Not really digging the looks of this one. Don't get me wrong, it's very interesting, but it does nothing for me.

The fact that there's is only one ZT logo on the knife means that even ZT thinks it's Ugly .

Could this be the one LE that ZT brings out that doesn't sell well, or increase in price? I highly doubt it.

It took a minute to remember where I'd seen it before -but I think this one was on late night cable a while back.

I need this in my life. How are these limited editions usually sold? Vendors or just their own website? Is it one of those things where you're fighting to get the page to load right at a certain time so you can get in before they're sold? If so, how does one know the time they're released?

They've sold them a couple of different ways. They've tried doing it on the ZT website, twice I think. They've chosen particular dealers through which they've sold a few. Both mechanisms have had some issues, but only because the volume is so high. Your best bet is to subscribe to the Kai/ZT newsletter. You'll be notified of the time and method of any Limited Edition sales. Alternatively, the information makes on to the forums pretty much as soon as ZT announces it.

Well, I guess we all remember the ugly duckling that became a swan? Or maybe it was roasted for dinner? I'm too many years removed from children's stories to remember how it ended ;).

It's a shame that so much cool tech is buried in such an ugly look. ZT just needs to break down and color the handle infection green and laser a bio-hazard stamp on the blade and start a zombie knife line.

Now watch me be a fool and buy it because of my "Knife Sickness".

This knife was quite impressive in hand. Dimitry apparently describes this design as "just enough pretty and just enough ugly." Either way, it will sell out in seconds when it goes live on selected dealer's websites.

That's a great description, and also might be the reason I love the looks.

Nice gtp avatar by the way. Always wanted one but I can't be bothered to do it right, so I won't do it at all.

The design might not be for everyone and I get that but look at it from the other angle.... all this new cool tech will have the chance to trickle down to the production catalogued items that the lot of you find more up your alley.

I played with this at Blade quite a bit and I agree with those who said it needs to be handled to be appreciated. I can see some of this cool tech making it into new awesome knives. I think maybe instead of picking on what you might think is "ugly", maybe try looking at all the features and see how the tech in this knife could be used in future knives. Keep in mind that this is also a production company using all this.

One of my favorite parts was the way it was idiot proofed so you were less likely to put pressure on the lock bar like a normal frame lock. Look closely at how the CF moves with the lock bar. Pretty neat stuff.

The knife may be ugly by many people's standards, but then again those same people love huge, blocky tactical frame locks with either a skull for the pocket clip or some rock pattern milled into the frame itself and all bronzed out. There's no account for taste after all, and at the end of the day, you'll like what you like. Hell whilst walking up and down those aisles at Blade, I saw plenty of hot chicks with some busted looking dudes, and most of them were members here, self proclaimed...again, no accounting for taste.

I like that Zero Tolerance went unorthodox with the 427. I'm tired of seeing the same old thing and a fresh idea is welcomed in a market of similar looking stuff. A tunable detent may seem like a novelty, but the same thing could be said about that Hoback detent system. But since it's a custom maker, can't criticize it at all.

It may be ugly for most, but that just means it'll be easier for me to get one. Because after all, those that don't like it won't bother trying to score one, right?

Just got this...but it's way too big. I had no idea of that when I spent an hour hitting refresh on BHQ...

$700 net to me!

ZT buying into the Instagram crowd.

It literally looks like they took a finished knife and CNC'ed pieces off. But that's kind of the style on Instagram lol.
