Since Kai's attention may still be here I have to say, I am a new user and was very VERY surprised, appalled even that there was not a Kershaw forum like the other brand name manufacturers....kershaw got me into knives and I was a kershaw fan long before I ever bought any other brand name knife or came here.

Big disappointment, just saying.
Maybe there was a good reason if so I missed it.

Obviously KAI is doing something right if we're all foaming at the mouths for their products.

There was a Kershaw/ZT subforum for quite awhile. It closed a few months back due to a slew of silly complications and misunderstandings. Misunderstandings similar to the one I just experience. Sorry folks, Sorry KAI.

ZT really shined this year with their product line. money is def on the 0562CF and just maybe the 0102.. can't wait!

Anyone know if the ZT/Emerson is chisel ground? It doesn't look like it from the pic, but I want to make sure. I hope not.

Could someone please chime in on this? I loathe chisel gound blades. Please!

BladeHQ has it listed as hollow grind but I really don't know and since they were prototypes at the SHOT Show I'd wait until they're out hopefully in the Summer.

I have to agree. Can't help but think the 0562 will still feel a hair large for EDC. The 0550 has nice materials, but a handle like a brick. The 0566 is about the right size, and nice and thin, but I'd still rather pay a little more for better materials. How about a 0566, with M390 slicer grind, thumbstuds and no flipper, G10 on both sides (chamfered edges like the 0562), and plain old phosphor-bronze bushings? (Still think the tiny balls will collect grit, as well as developing play faster, by only having 6 tiny little points of contact, instead of using an entire washer face- MUCH more surface area to guide the blade.). Yeah... phosphor-bronze bushings, a little white lithium grease, and good for 100,000 miles! I see ZT's tiny balls as being a source of trouble and blade play :( IMO... So, with all that said, I too would've liked an upscale 0566. Guess I'll be waiting on the 2015' ZT 0563 with the 3.25ish blade, 4.25"-4.375" G10 handles, M390 and all the goodies......

- I've had no blade play in my ZT0777 and have not experienced it in the other ZT models that I've had a chance to use. The caged bearings should keep most grit out of the action.

I also agree..... I don't see any play arising from them, and even if it did... I believe KAI would take care of you

I have a pre-order in for both the 562cf and the 620cf. I saw the shot show 2014 vid, has anyone noticed a difference between the 620cf on the video to the one ZT has on their website?
Why did ZT remove the groves in the 0620CF scale before production, I like the groves...
Can someone explain this if you know what I'm talking about. Thx

Same reason the 0102 won't have full CF scales.

They are prototypes and subject to change before production.

Unfortunately I am one of the very few knife nuts who carries solely and strictly tip-down. Zero Tolerance was my favorite production company, because every folder came with a four-way swappable pocket-clip. Annoyingly and frustratingly ZT stopped making folders with a four-way swappable pocket-clip. Almost all the awesome collabs and limited editions of the last few years came strictly tip-up. Same with all the folders from the poll above. So no pick from me. And a gigantic frustrated thumbs down :thumbdn: for ZT from me. Even the new Hinderer collab comes strictly tip-up. Hinderer unworthy in my opinion

AMEN!!

I love tip down carry for larger knives.

Unfortunately, it's really hard to drill holes for a tip down clip when there are bearing races up there. Michael Vagnino had a bear of a time engineering his Velox flipper to have a tip down clip for me.

Hinderers don't have bearings so it doesn't matter. Emersons can't be tip down due to the wave.

Also, a lot of the newer ZTs has custom clips which are hard to make work left and right side not to mention tip up and down.

Thx for your reply, the ZT0620CF was shown at shot show 2014, the vid showed what ZT is coming out with not what they are thinking of offering to the public. ZT, put the groves on the 0620CF scale. Looks much better, caught my attention, don't like the plain CF scale as much.

Yes and no. We're going to to come out with a 620CF, but the details are as I described earlier in the thread.

Again, we've opted to take the approach of showing early, getting temp checks, reconvening, tweaking, and proceeding. it helps with a better product coming to market, and assists with our scheduling and forecasting. Thanks for understanding. :)

I can appreciate your frustration. I'm on the other side of the fence myself, but there are some knives I'll happily carry tip-down. I even get a slight bit frustrated when a knife is offered only clipped tip-down (like the Spyderco Military) purely because I'm so accustomed to opening my blades from a tip-up approach. It's not an issue of deployment speed, for me typically it's an aesthetic thing. For example, the Kershaw Leek; I'll only carry it tip-down, I just don't like the way it looks with the clip tip-up.

Would a belt or pocket sheath be an option for you? It's just a bummer to see you miss out on some of these great ZT offerings purely because of a tip-up configuration. There was a time when pocket knives didn't even have clips, maybe take the clip off? Maybe KAI/ZT will drop a few in the future with some more tip-down or swappable configs in the future, we can hope anyway!
