AMEN!!

I love tip down carry for larger knives.

Unfortunately, it's really hard to drill holes for a tip down clip when there are bearing races up there. Michael Vagnino had a bear of a time engineering his Velox flipper to have a tip down clip for me.

Hinderers don't have bearings so it doesn't matter. Emersons can't be tip down due to the wave.

Also, a lot of the newer ZTs has custom clips which are hard to make work left and right side not to mention tip up and down.

Actually I never thought of it that way. I was and am shocked how many custom knifemakers, offering customs or midtechs below 800 USD, who replied my email that they don't make tip-down knives or customizations (I was and am also shocked how many never even bothered to reply at all).

Except for Jake Hoback :) So I am waiting on my first 400+ USD knife: a tip-down Kawaiback Midtech :)

Still prefer simple old washers on my folders though. I am EDC'ing Millies for almost six years now by the way. My favorite is the C/F M390.

Would a belt or pocket sheath be an option for you? It's just a bummer to see you miss out on some of these great ZT offerings purely because of a tip-up configuration. There was a time when pocket knives didn't even have clips, maybe take the clip off? Maybe KAI/ZT will drop a few in the future with some more tip-down or swappable configs in the future, we can hope anyway!

Thank you for your thoughts, but a sheath is not an option. Nobody in my entire circle(!) of people carries a knife! I scare the shit out of people when I pull out my Orange Millie of my right back-pocket (and my mother gets angry). Wearing a sheath would be considered as freakishly dorky. Also, since two or three years, every major city in The Netherlands (aka Holland) passed local laws making "any sharp object" illegal to carry. So I am already a total nut job for carrying a Millie in my right back-pocket, a SAK in my front, a Juice and S&W HRT Badge knife in my jacket and a Opinel, Charge and Rajah II in my Falcon II backpack :o

John W. Smith makes knives under 800 that come tip down. I'm sure if you contact Michael Vagnino (who's on the forum) he could make you a tip down velox flipper like mine.

Yes and no. We're going to to come out with a 620CF, but the details are as I described earlier in the thread.

Thx, I understand now, my two cents,,, the grooves in the CF scale for the 0620CF looks great, please leave them in when it comes to production, it's a distinguishing characteristic that I like and believe me, I know what looks good, lol.

Yeah, I've been wait for so long for a ZT/Emerson collab, I'm just happy that there finally is one. Now for a ZT/Benchmade collab... 350 with Axis lock anyone?

If the past is any indication, for regular production ZT knives, give it 6-9 months from the announcement so hopefully sometime in the Summer of 2014.

Does anyone know what the rockwell hardness of the ZT-0180 is? I read it can get pretty up there while retaining toughness.

Dunno, I certainly hope it will be 64 or above. I got one custom in Vanadis 4E and that one is just fine for light/medium cutting at 66HRC with the edge around 12-14 per side.

There was a knife review on zknives and the guy also had a 66hrc knife made by a Norwegian metallurgist. I wonder what the c charpy puts it at when it's that hard.

I really wish ZT would make a KVT flipper with an exact 3" blade, titanium framelock, titanium handles and M390 blade! Like a souped-up Kershaw Nura 3.0!

I knew if I looked through the thread, I would find someone who said it for me. As much as I understand that ZT's niche is overbuilt and heavy as KAI said, I still think they could make an overbuilt and heavy 3" folder that fills their niche while providing competition to the likes of the MPR and Techno.

The 620 is really growing on me, ofcourse since nothing is perfect, I'd prefer the noncoated M390 blade matched with a G10 handle, AND since we're nitpicking, I'd like the blade length to be the full 4", pretty much my standard for a tactical blade. Ah well...that's why it's called chasing the unicorn.

Why would you want it to be that hard? 0180 grind look very obtuse I don't think it would be any good as slicer.

The alloy can do it, knife isn't too big to be used as a chopper pr a pry bar, high hardness will allow for better edge holding and thinner edge.
I'm not sure what would you, as a knife user gain by having softer steel in a 4" knife?
