Zero Tolerance knives what is all the hype?

I have been eyeing a 0550BW but only find then at one place BladeHq, and wonder if the Stonewashed Black Finish last, or hold up with use?

From what has been told, the Blackwash on most of the knives is actually the DLC coating that has been tumbled. So, it will be tough, but since the coating has already been degraded (on purpose) there is less of the DLC to resist scratches.

I will say that with my BW knives, it helps to cover up any scratches since it looks that way to start with. The BW look actually encourages me to use the blades since I can't mar them with use.

What's so great about ZT? They're the knife brand that got me back into collecting.

...wait, maybe they're not so great after all...:p

But seriously, I'll chime in amid all the back and forth here with what I'd say to any "Why is (Brand X) so great?" question: give it a try and find out. Really, just pick out the ZT model that most appeals to you and give it a shot. If you like it, congratulations! If you don't, give/sell it to someone that will and either give another one a try or move on to a different brand instead.

The perfect marriage of beauty, beast and badassery: that's what makes ZT special.

Agreed. Al Gore invented the internet so we can share pics.

Hey Quiet, I've seen you do this a couple of times lately. Just wanted to say it is refreshing to see someone take responsibility and show a bit of humility. Good on you! This would be a lot more pleasant forum if more folks followed your example. Anyway, it's not just you...I have to clean up behind myself too. (More than I would like). I guess in a perfect world I would just never be a dick but the world isn't perfect and neither am I. ;) Best I can do is to be accountable.

I try to keep in mind on this forum that I'm talking to actual people, not just names on a screen. Sometimes I'll fire off a comment, and not run it through the "Are people going to think you're a jerkbag when they read this?" filter. And if I've made that mistake, like you said, I feel that it's the right thing to do to tell whomever I was addressing "Ok, look, that came out wrong, sorry about that." As an adult, there's nothing wrong with admitting you were wrong. I do my best to keep that in mind. I'm not always successful, mind you, but I do try!

You don't have to worry about me, brother. I already know you're a jerkbag :D

This guy (facepalm) LOL

You need to come to Florida so I can put you in a headlock!

Hell no, man! I'm terrified of alligators and David Caruso!

Back to knife content: I love the machining marks in the lockbar cutouts!

You know, I've never noticed that before. Excellent observation!

One of the best posts I've read in BF, and I wholeheartedly agree.

I often feel the need to clarify or cleanse after hitting the submit button, so I'm glad I'm not the only one using a "jerkbag" filter.

I just ordered my first ZT, an 0801. Initially there was something about the general ZT look that didn't click for me, and I prefer a smaller/lighter EDC knive. After a while though, I found that there was something about the 0801 that kept catching my attention. Pictures of it seemed to keep showing up in the threads I would visit, but I would try to write it off as too large. I looked through the ZT line to see if there were any smaller knives that I found interesting, but nothing had the same appeal as the 0801. Well I finally decided to pull the trigger (press the flipper?) and should have it soon.

I am a little concerned though, since my Spyderco addiction started in a similar manner. "They are a little odd looking, but maybe I'll just try one..."

Congrats on your purchase! I think you're going to love the knife. And you're right, there is something about the 0801. ZT really knocked this Rexford design out of the park.
