Not sure why people like ZT. Only model ever worth a dime was the MUDD.
Because there is many smart knife people in the community 😁
Seriously I’d be worried if there wasn’t a small group like yourself that feels differently. You start the same thread on any knife manufacture you will probably see the same thing a combo of both . I respect each and everyone’s opinion here and that’s exactly what this thread is for sharing there thoughts . Some will be happy , some won’t and some will never be happy.I feel very fortunate we all have so many knife makers out there for us . With ZT being one of them.

I liked ZT more at the beginning .

The focus / mission was to build serious hard use knives for military , police , emergency /survival , or just critical work where failure was not an option .

I still like the tomahawk they made.
Yeah that was very temping.

This is my fav, I don't have one because all the ZT I have owned or handled are kinda big for me but this was very temping and unusually slim.

I've only ever had 3 ZT kinves, the ZT 0200, ZT 0700, and ZT 0750. I traded the 0700 a long time ago. I still have my ZT 0200, but never carry it. I definitely appreciate the quality of it, it's just too thick to carry comfortably. I absolutely love the ZT 0750 and carry it all the time. It's basically a heavy duty swayback.
They are all exceedingly well-made with high quality fit and finish. And the ZT 0200 was a great value at the time. I believe <$110 when I got it (man I miss those days). I wish I got in on the 0620 and 0630 before they were discontinued, but at the time, I had not yet moved into the $120+ realm so I kept on putting it off.

The 0750 Talon and 0780 Folder are both very rare and often overlooked ZTs.

The 0750 w/it's reverse blade/handle design is well suited for SD/tactical use and as is the more conventional looking 0780. The 0750 is assisted but the 0780 is not.

The 0750 is comparable in shape/size w/the fixed blade Spydero Reverse and is well designed for slashing and feels much better/natural to me when held w/a reverse grip.

The tactical design of the 0780 is evident in its sharp modified clip point blade and the contoured handle which provides a very secure grip, whether held conventionally or in reverse. The metal "skull crusher" on the butt end is also a nice touch.

The 0750 and 0780 are comparable in size to the more conventional 0450, 0566 and 0770. I never took to the 0450, which I always felt was "too small." So, I no longer own a 0450 but I still own all of the others. Each has a unique design/purpose and they will always have a place in my collection.

Those models were around a few years before I really got into knives but I like the design of the 0780. How is the flipping action?

780 was a very short run. I bought two and only one was serviceable. Sent the other back to ZT and they weren't fixing the bad ones, just gave people a choice of a couple other models. There was quite a few with poor lockup and it was one of the shortest runs by ZT.

I stand corrected. In this thread I bought two that were good and my dad got the bad one. It was long ago!

They're still available here and there. The flipping action on mine is fine but could be improved w/a little pivot adjustment and lube.

I consider it a "collectible" and don't carry it. So, I never bothered trying tune it in.

Fortunately, no such problem w/the one I own.

IDK. I never liked the looks/feel of the ZT500.

However, I did like the G&G MUDD Auto but stupidly traded it away for a comparably priced (at the time) bali but I'm hoping that G&G will start making the MUDD Auto again so that I can correct that mistake.

Thanks for the heads up. If I did get one I probably wouldn’t carry it either given how rare they are but I would want it to be functional at least. Those are really good lookin’ knives.
Clones suck BTW. Those people who bought the ā€œ0235ā€ above šŸ‘† probably think ZT makes crap.

I’m really liking my 640.. is the 620-630 the only other Emerson/ZT collaborations?

Yes, those are the only Emerson/ZT collabs -- 0620, 0630 and 0640.

I'm not a big fan of manuals w/thumbstuds (or disks) which is the main reason why I've never purchased an 0640 before.

However, given the lack of other options, I am currently thinking about buying a bronze annodized 0640 from Blades We Love or a black micarta version from US Made Blade, which recently attracted my attention.

I'm also considering US Made Blade's black micarta version of the 0308 as well.

I just got the black micarta 640 from USA Made Blade. Whitty says he’s gonna do a bronze with the black micarta soon.
This is my first knife with a thumb disk and washers and I’m pleasantly surprised by how much I like it. I’m on a washers kick now. Seriously thinking about taking out the bearings and putting PB washers on my fullered non flipper XM-18.
