Zero Tolerance

A G10 0562 was the 1st ZT that I ever purchased. The 0560/0562/0566 is a great way to own a Hinderer w/o spending 2-3x's more. Unfortunately, the 0562 is the only one that ZT still makes.

I've owned and sold a XM-24 and 3" XM-18 because I didn't feel they offered me much for the price beyond the 0560 and 0566 that I already owned. Thought about buying a 3.5" XM-18 to compare w/the 0562 but decided there was really no need to do that.
You’re probably right. The ZT has better action for sure. I love the Spanto though, so XM it is!

The 0200 is really cool. It’s kinda big to edc it, but it’s on washers, as are all the speedsafe knives. I carried my 0357 more than anything last year. If they got rid of the torsion bar and added a detent ball to it, that knife would be way more popular than it is, especially with enthusiasts.
Whenever I can’t decide what knife to carry I’ll just grab the 357 and know I’m good without having to think about it. I doubt it will happen, but I’d really like to see a version of that without the speedsafe.

I like big knives and I cannot lie!

I have yet to come across a ZT that wasn’t well executed, even if a particular model doesn’t appeal to me.

I haven’t been into recent models, largely because bearings and TFFs appeal less to me these days. They also make occasional design choices that baffle me and/or polarize the knife community, like the ugly green CF weave on the 0640 (which is an otherwise stupendous knife).

Serendipitously, I carried my 0900 today. That portly little guy always puts a smile on my face. The 0460 is one of my favorite knives for formal & dress-up occasions. The 0450 is one of several timeless ZT classics, and the knife that got me into collecting nice knives.
That 640 has been on my want list for awhile. I saw one with denim scales that replaced that weird green weave for sale here in the Exchange ... pretty sweet. Not sure the bearings are much of a hindrance to any use I'd throw at my 452 or 470. That seems like it'd be fixed blade territory..

And yeah that 562Ti looks like a real winner.

I've heard a lot of people say the 450 is the smoothest action of all their flippers.

That 452 is GREAT for stabbing into logs in pretty areas and snapping photos! 10/10.

Let's try this again... dang glare at the beach...20220106_112006.jpg
Carmel Beach. You can see whatever hole that is at Pebble Beach Golf Course in the background. Go Tiger!

My favorite ZT is the 0452. I own 4 variations of it and am looking for 1 more that I passed on before.

Other favorites in my top 5 (listed numerically) include:

ZT 0200 (I own 3 variation)
ZT 0400 (I own 2 variations)
ZT 0620 (1 own 2 variations)
ZT 0770 (1 own 2 variations)

Honorable mention:

ZT 0610ST Auto (Only 1 version made)
ZT 0804CF (Only 1 version made)

The only knife among these still made by ZT is the 0452. The rest you'll have to look for on the 2ndary market.

PS: While I like the 0560/0562/0566 series, I only own 1 of each aft selling off some variations and they are not among my favorites. I also own 3 variations of the 0350, which also is not among my faves. The only reason I have 3 of them is that I impulsively bought M390 and CB variations of it that I should sell.
Makes me feel good about my 0620CF. I really should grab a 0770 while I can find one. A 0452 would be nice too.

I’m not big on assisted knives, so I’m a little hesitant to buy the 0770. My 0350TS isn’t my favorite.

The only ones I have left in my collection are a 0566 and 0360 SKD exclusive. The 0566 is pretty bad, horrible detent, large amount of blade play and lock rock and the steel seems to be very soft (S35VN); it's collecting dust. The 0360 isn't too bad, it's a chunker and but has been used pretty rough and never presented too much of an issue.

I doubt I will purchase another ZT anytime soon.

I like the 0620CF M390 best. I could take a pass on the 0620 G10 DLC Elmax but the 0620 only came in these 2 variations, so keep it in the interest of completeness. Never liked the "skinner" shaped blade on the 0630 and sold the only 1 that I owned recently.

I don't have any issues w/assisted knives but any assisted Kershaw/ZT can be easily "de-assisted" by simply removing the torsion bar. Tried doing that once before (I forget which knife it was) but I actually liked it better assisted.

The 0770 is a little smaller than I prefer in a knife but then again I like it how "light," flat and easy to carry it is. My favorite variation is the M390 - I have a "thing" for M390 - but I also like the 0770 it in it's other configurations -- the Kerhaw 7007 Natrix (that I also own) and the premium CF M390 ZT 0777.

Would love to add a 0777 to my collection but I'm not willing to pay the price. One recently sold on the Exchange for $850 (which was actually a "reasonable" asking price but still more than I am willing to pay for any single knife.

Unlike BTTLBRN BTTLBRN above, I haven't had any issues w/the 0566 that I own. I also have a 0360SKD which is a rare variation of the 0350; both of which are assisted and have not caused me any problems at all.

ZT is an also-ran in my world. I've looked at some but nothing ever interested me. The aesthetic they usually have looks too much like a sci-fi movie prop to me.

I find them too much of a chunky monkey. Not one of their designs has really appealed to me

Again, to each his own, but with regards to the "sci-fi" look, I think this mainly applies to the "new" ones.

The look of "old" ones -- with the exception of the 0055 -- are IMO the antithesis of a "sci-fi" prop.

One ZT I always forget about is the 0562. It’s about as close to a perfect folder as it gets in my book. I’ve owned numerous and always sold them as I felt my XM 18 made it somewhat redundant. But, a great knife regardless.
Good point the ZT 0562Ti is one of my favorites along with the cf version👍🏻

Being that I like smaller knives, ZT hasn’t been a brand I owned much of. They are typically larger more tactical knives and that’s just not my thing. Nothing against the brand, as the ones I owned were quality etc but other then the 452 I just didn’t bond with them.

What amazes me is how you ZT folks remember those uncatchy XXXX names. 0350, 0450, etc. I’ll stick with Spyderco’s naming convention. 😅

Love my two; great design and very great quality.
