Zero Tolerance

801 plain stonewashed Ti model is the one for me. Have owned many ZTs, several Hinderer designs (lost their place when I got real Hinderers), several 30x models (too chunky for me), some of the Sinkevich designs (nice but for some reason I never carried them). The 801 is the only one I've kept. I would still rank it as the best flipping knife I've ever tried, including knives that cost ten times more.

My knife. 0551 from Elmax. I had to change the geometry of the blade to convex. Now he can cut.

It is a very suitable knife for hiking in nature. Reliable, comfortable in the hand, and stays sharp for a long time.

I say it without shame, I am a huge ZT/Kershaw fanboi.

I work in industrial maintenance and over the years, I've used countless ZT's for my daily duties and I haven't had one that has not been able to perform up to my expectations. I've used them to pry, chop, scrape or whatever i need them to do and aside from the chipped tip here or there due to abuse, I haven't had one fail yet. Everything from the old school models from 2008 to the newer offerings from 2020, no issues with any of mine so track record for me is why I choose them time and time again.

I couldn't agree more. If it wasn't for ZT I wouldn't have gone further for my knife "wants" in my user collection.

Being that I like smaller knives, ZT hasn’t been a brand I owned much of. They are typically larger more tactical knives and that’s just not my thing. Nothing against the brand, as the ones I owned were quality etc but other then the 452 I just didn’t bond with them.

Ever check out a 450? Smallish, but rock solid. Similar to the 452, but much smaller.

Absolutely.

I don't use mine nearly as hard as you do metsfan metsfan , but I do routine stuff around the house; cutting cardboard for recycle, basic cutting of bags of seed, pet food, rope. hose/tubing etc.

I have never received a ZT that had a defect from the manufacturer.

I do have quite a few Spyderco and several Benchmade, and those are good knives too, but I do prefer the ZT knives for the great variety of styles.

Knife collecting is a sickness but one that you can employ in your day....

best

Both of my ZTs have tiny tip chips due to (ab)use. They still "Will Kill."

For today's town run, the fancy 470 because it'll go great with my slippers and sweats!

That 801ti wasn't on my radar... what a nice one. Love the centered tip.

Yeah. ZT juices FLOWIN!

Here’s my 801, should have included a photo in my first post! Apologies for the poor photo quality, but she’s a keeper!

I still had 0909. But it opened a couple of times in my pocket and stung me. I sold it without regret.

I have a 0909. Mine has never opened in my pocket, but I've probably only carried it 20-30 times. I'll have to remember this, in case I have this issue in future.

You don't regret it but I think it's a shame that you decided to sell your 0909 because it opened in your pocket and "stung" you.

Did you ever try to diagnose the reason why it was doing that? There must have been some logical explanation for it.

If it was a defect in design, I'm sure others would have reported it and that ZT would have been willing to fix it. On the other hand, if it was a "user" problem, if you could figure out what you were doing to cause the knife to open, you could have just have stopped doing it and kept the knife.

FWIW, I've heard others report knives of various makes/models open on them in their pockets but I have a 0909 and have NEVER had a problem of it opening in my pocket nor have I had this problem w/any other knife that I own, including over 25 automatics (both w/and w/o spring locks).

Of course I figured out the reason. The ball on the liner almost did not fall into the groove on the blade. And I also didn't like how the knife itself was made. My hand was uncomfortable. Plus bearings. I don't like bearings. Sold with an indication of the defect to a friend who loves knives. He has a knife on the shelf, does not bite anyone.

If you’re ever looking for something similar you should check out the 0200. They run on washers and have a more contoured handle. Big, heavy duty rugged knife similar size to the 0909.

A lot of us with larger paws are under served by the knife reviewing community online, whose smallish hands are less drawn to Zero Tolerance "tank knives". It's nice to have more discussion here on knives that actually fill my hands, instead of vanish in them.
