I carried the SAW for some time. That along with 2 extra "party packs" (200rd belt bags) and it is a PIG. Look at the look on my face :D

I'd go with something more available, the SAW can sling a lot of lead real quick.
 
Go semi-auto, or any other mechanism which does one shot per trigger squeeze.
Read War War Z to see why(although conserving ammo is always a good idea).
 
Assuming typical available civvie firearms, and unlimited ammo, I'd have to go with A nice Marlin lever gun in .35 Rem - good ol' pumpkin rollers. You need to hit those suckers with a lot of mass and you're still only going to slow them down. Good ol' Colt 1911 for backup. None of that sissy .223 stuff. If they get closer, I have a nice 350-year old katana that's been starved for flesh for the last 54 years or so.
 
For a bladed weapon I'd take a spike tomahawk like my Fort turner Rogers Rangers.firearm....M1 Carbine.

Honestly guys, all you need is a reliable carbine with a LOT of ammo, and a melee weapon that has enough *oomph* to crack a skull (or cut off the head).

Keep it lightweight so you have enough room for food, water, supplies, ect.

Hell, a 10/22 should do the trick even. You can carry a TON of .22lr and it has a enough punch to pop a brain at 100m.



Oh, and I wish someone would produce Lobos ;)

When I've gone one on one with a zombie, the only thing that works is to disassemble them. Remove their legs with a chain saw, and they can't chase you. Tear off their arms, and their torsos can't crawl. Liquify their faces with 12 gauge and they can't see you. A belly full of 7.62mm won't do the trick.

Oh and gettin in there with a chainsaw and ripping them from limb to limb will work? Meanwhile the rest swarm you? WTF?! And yeah zombies don't give a rats ass bout kill power but I guarantee you they'll drop quicker from 7.62 than 5.56....If you are gonna molest a post molest the ones that go on about their Stoner rifles that notoriously jam and fail ya dope! Wasn't much plannin to hip fire and shoot em in the "belly" either sport.

Too often people get lulled into a false sense of playfulness when discussing the zombie threat.

Zombies are not a joke, this threat is serious and needs to be treated as such!

*Takes a bow* Thanks a lot dude! You are totally right, too much fantasy goin on. I just despise someone that takes a sentence and rapes it and tries to act all smart about it. Their logic is laughable. Have a good'n! :D :D

knife: a kukri. a big kukri.
firearm: either an L85A2 (aka: SA80A2) or an MP5 or a G36. or maybe a side by side/over-under shotgun.
reason being that the L85 is the british army issue (so, in the event of a zombie apocalyse should be fairly available, including ammo and other bits) the MP5 and G36 are commonly found issued to police, and the shotguns are about the only serious firearm found in the hands of civilians in any numbers.
I suspect the pistol would be a browning (army issue) or a glock (common police issue) although police issue could be anything (sigs, walthers, H&K)
 
For a firearm I agree with the hi-cap magazine 10/22 with red-dot sight.

For a knife? That's easy. My Condor Viking machete. :D

I'd be out on a boat with a woodchipper. Ya'll can get tired jumpin around all nimbly bimbly from tree to tree.
 
Either a sks or my SA22. Some sort of 7-9"fixed blade would work for me. Don't really plan on using a knife against zombies really.
 
Any one ever thought about the benefit of using a riot shield in this situation...

I would have to go with my SR mini mojo, 12ga mossberg, and CZ 75 9mm. Also in tow would be a Ruger 10/22 and probably my 38 k frame. I would love to take a .45 with me but the ammo capacity would be a great deterrent.
 
A boom box strapped to my back playing Micheal Jackson's thriller on repeat :D Also an AR15 with red dot sight, as well as two NMFBM's.
