ZT 0200 Three Knife Givaways!

It is VERY nice to see that Joe is going to be getting a couple of nice knives as gifts himself!...He really deserves 'em for the happiness that he's brought to (total strangers) by his generous giving (myself included)..

And it also looks like the Kershaw forums has made a couple new friends through all of this...

...Oh, and I was kidding about cleaning guns with the chamber loaded...I do have more sense than that...Most of the time...(There's really no need to keep staring at the two 10mm holes in my front room ceiling...:D.:D.).

I vote for Daywalker. Besides the excellent reasons named by Dialex, Chad is one of the good guys in this world, who constantly risk their lives to protect others.

It seems rather strange to me, to start such a giveaway, declare the rules and after it´s noticed they weren´t to own liking to blame others who had voted strictly after the rules - it´s quite imprudent, isn´t it?

JB

P.S. I couldn´t read all the 221 posts before. After I read a bit further I have the feeling, some clarificatory postings had led to some kind of acceptance. Sorry for the harsh sound of my question above. After all, thanks Joe for the very nice contest!

thanks Joejeweler for having this most generous of contests....
To be honest I was saddened to see the direction that this contest took with all the drama and insinuations that "foul play" was involved... but I am glad it ended on a positive note.
I've been a knifenut for about 2 going on 3 yrs now and for me it started with Spydercos....I joined the forums there in 2005 and shortly after that I joined Bladeforums. After getting a Spyker, I became Ken Onion aficionado next, then a fan of Kershaw knives... I have since purchased over 10 Kershaws over the past 2 years, the last one being the Ti-SG2 JunkyardDog2....which BTW is a most impressive piece, cudos to Tim Galyean ....
Prior to joining the Spyderco forums in Jan 2005, I spent many hours "lurking" there, reading all I could to learn more about knives... at that time (as a total noob) i had no idea who Dialex or Daywalker were....I had no clue that they would be involved in knife design collaborations with Spyderco, only that Daywalker was a correctional officer in Hawaii, and that Dialex was a technical manager in Romania...
To this day I have never met either man personally, nor have I spoken to them by telephone; the most communication I have had with either man has been via the internet and these forums...
If the saying " a picture says a thousand words" has some truth, then I feel that what someone types and posts in their threads on a public forum speaks volumes about their character...
If someone takes the time to read what either of these men have previously posted on either Bladeforums/Spydercoforums, they might agree with my opinion when I say that both Dialex and Daywalker deserve my unconditional respect and admiration; IMHO I feel that both are selfless, kind-hearted, unpretentious Christians who are "family men" and who also happen to be extremely knowledgeable in knife design ... I am sure that I am not alone in this opinion (as evidenced by the number of posts for Chad in this contest).
Before I casted my vote, I read the introduction to this contest and it appeared to be an "open" contest to all Bladeforums members, not just to "whomever contributed the most to the Kershaw subforums"....
I believe that Dialex's thread on the Spyderco forum was posted with "good intentions" b/c he felt (as I do) that Chad los Banos was a "worthy candidate" for such an awesome prize...
I do not believe it was done with ill intent or with the intention of "rigging the contest"....
Thanks again to joejeweler for having this contest, my hat's off to you and Georgemaggos...
Congrats to all the winners... :)

WOW,....CHRISTMAS is coming early for a lot of us!:o I just get in from work and i'm a winner,.....AGAIN!

Thanks alot, Daywalker,.....

......now i've got to make some more room in my safe,.....and here i thought i had cleared a little space! :D

Bead blast for me,.....and i'll get right on an email to ya.

Geeze,.......what a great place to meet great "peeps" from all over the world! :)
Aloha Joe,

Sir, from 3 winners to 5!!! Again, thank you for your generosity. E-Mail sent with my information...but I must, um..."balance" things out here. See, some of the guys who voted for me are not just from the Spyderco Forum...they are also from the Boker Forum. Since georgemaggos already got ya covered from the "Spyderco end", let me cover things from the "Boker end".

I would like to send you one of my MPT Fixed Blades. It comes with a Mini Tek-Lok, and I will also include a Mercop Mercharness with yours. You just let me know via email, PE OR CE?;) (PE is bead blasted, and CE is black coated).

Okaaaaayyyyyyyy...now things are in "balance".

Broken record I know, but mahalo much to everyone for your votes, and to you Joe for being a great "listener" and not just a "hearer"...there is a BIG difference, and I am glad you are the former.

Congrats also to Kershawguy, nygiantsfan3342, by buddy Esav, and offsetlover. Speaking of offsetlover, I gotta admit, through this giveaway, we definitely LIVED his signature:

"And glory, eternal glory, / We shall bear its weight together. / Forged like the saber in the fires of death, Brothers all."

God bless guys, and take care:cool:

I'm a patient guy in most everything,.......35 years of jewelry repair helped form that "affliction". Nice to be out of it and have a bit more time for me......especially this time of year. In prior years i'd put in 100 hour weeks the last 3 weeks before Xmas!

That engraving job (more like a round bur job) on the spyderco started out as just wanted to dress it up a bit. Then i got a few more ideas and kept adding to it.

The handpiece moves around a bit if you're not careful,.....and you control it with the thumb resting on the knife,......but all the years setting diamonds with the same tools payed off! :)

Setting a real diamond was the last thing i did,....as i recall. All told maybe 35 hours or so into it,.....didn't want to rush it and SLIP! That's a patience builder,.....but taking breaks is the key............

The longer lines on the hardened blade were made with a thin stone separating disc,.....hardness of sapphire & ruby,......followed by a rubber abbrasive and final polish. When i got it done i almost didn't want to use it,............but i got over it! :D

What you see in the pics is with a lot of years carrying it in my pocket with a lot of keys rubbing on it,.....and it still looks pretty nice. I doubt i'll ever refinish it though,......might never use it if i do. :grumpy:

Oh,.....and the spyde symbol came out better than i expected, copied off a magazine ad i found! (also done with fine dentist ball burs)

Don't take it personally. When I learned that there were forums on Spyderco's official website, I signed up just for fun. I think it took 3 days before I was able to post. Just give it a bit of time. Also....

Wow those are awesome pics!

You turned that Spyderco into an artistic piece of beauty, instead of it being just a functional piece of beauty. Thank you for the pics, and your incredible generosity.

Wow, amazing Dave! Not that I should be surprised by your generosity, of course.

This thread has been pretty incredible!

and that ladies and germs, is why Dave got the votes he did. two words CLASS ACT

Dave,......what's this? Another gift from the knife gods,.........i'm speechless! (well, almost......:o)

All you guys are great,.....and i wasn't really looking for anything back on this whole deal. But that's a beauty and i don't have one like it yet,......let alone a Kershaw,........so i'll take it!

Dave,.....thank you so much, and PLEASE,......it's balanced already,......BALANCED ALREADY,........ EVERYONE!!!!

I'm beginning to feel a little "cheap" :o, because i don't feel guilty about accepting all these wonderful treasures from you forum guys. I must say they all mean so much more to me than if i went out and got them all myself,.....something "personal" about it that's special.

For those of you that have once given away something special to you,......you already know that the giver gets much more out of the deal than the give-ee!

The rest of you will have to find that out for yourself........:)

I'll email you my addy, Dave,......and we'll both have a little excitement coming our way!

Joe,

You are going to LOVE that Kershaw Trooper! I've had a couple of 'em over the years, and they are an excellent, SOLID dagger...The quality of those is top-notch.

Way to go, Dave!.

This, if you ask me, is bladeforums at its best. Grown, mature folks who love the same thing, sharing it.

Almost brings a tear to my eye.

Nice job all,

Brett

Sorta like a "Spyker" Forum for awhile there!:D

I was a bit troubled after thinks heated up by our posting.
I would like to apologize to your guys at this great forum.
I and i think my fellows at the spyderco forum had no malicious intention.

We just support Daywalker for the guy he is. Allthough i did not make any post yet on this subforum i like quality knives like all of us over here and at spyderco or boker and other brands. In the future i will certainly buy myself one: probably a Leek.;)

First Class how thinks turned out after all of this.

It really went well on the spyderco form. I am also a member there.

Congratulations Daywalker

Ay Guys it did my heart good to read things turned out the way they did...What an exciting event...and one to be rememberd on this forum for all times for sure...Kudos to everyone involved for their part...it's nice to see good people doing good things....we need more of it...not only on the forums but in the world in general...all you guys are setting a great example...I salute you....Doc:D

I am glad this didn't get any more heated than it did, but I bet
that Knife Giveaways at this sub-forum may be at an end if this ever happens again.

mike

When I saw the thread in the Spyderco forum, I didn't pay much attention to the nature of the contest and threw my vote in without thought. I spend very little time on BF (none of it in the Kershaw section to be honest) and it is not right for me to influence something I am not a part of. For that I apologize.

I am glad the contest had a happy ending. I do think that Chad deserves a knife as much as any other guy though :D
