Zt 0392 blu bowie

I see there still plenty in stock from GoingGear and HouseOfBlades after been released for 3 days
this model is a total failure for ZT
But I don't feel bad for them. ZT abused 0392 way too far.

Failure? It would have been an opportunity for me if I could afford one. I figured these would sell out in a few hours, now I suspect they will be gone by the end of next week.

not sure if you understand market or not.
if dealers cannot sell, they won't order that many next time.

It's a failure because it didn't sell out in 3 minutes? Abused the 0392, Get real. If they are still there after 6 months then you can start having that conversation.

I think your perception is clouded by the fact that ZT knives usually sell out quickly. That's not the norm. It's only because this is ZT that this is a conversation, if it were another company much more slack would be given.

No sweat, Mr. Ju_Ju - that troll was banned.

The Blue Bowie was a great success - I think they did the Bowie Hinderer grind well!

best

I did buy it for looks. Just like the other 2 pictured. I have about 16 other knives that I carry at various times. My ZT 0301 and my ZT 0620cf are carried for work. I have to say the handle shape of the 0392 is the best feeling folder I have next to the Kershaw Spec Bump . Too bad it'll never go to work.

Really wishing for a G10 version in the $200-$250 range. The ZT 0560 and ZT 0561 were about that price. C'mon Kershaw, I'll buy one in each color.

Can u email me, have a question (victoriom AT me DOT com)

Hey guys, so I just got mine today, I was wondering how many of you are gonna use as EDC knife?

Grandmaster - Do you plan to EDC yours?

I like it but I have an XM-18 Bowie so can't really justify the purchase or spending the same as I did on the XM. I EDC the XM already and it has been serving me well.

These are really nice ZT's I'd be interested to see how it performs on a daily basis, curious to hear several months down the line how it holds up.

Well my EDC is my Bowie XM 18, love the knife, the flipping is so smooth, I don't know if Ill EDC the ZT, I just liked the model so much I bought it, but I mainly rotate between my MP-1 and my Bowie, gonna get a SHIRO soon, so my EDC is always changing

ZT 0392BLUBOWIE was $400 with a Bowie blade of M390 steel, titanium scale, titanium frame lock and caged bearings.

The new Hinderer Eklipse is $425 with a Bowie blade of S35VN steel, G-10 scale, titanium frame lock and washers. A Hinderer titanium scale is an additional $200 which brings the total to $625 and you still have an inferior steel.

By the way, all the hardware in both knives are made by Hinderer.

(And you still have inferior Steel) so + 100$? for the M390 upgrade your looking at close to 725$ for the Hinderer to be a comparable knife. The ZT LE was 400$. I bet a lot of people are thinking man those ZT Limited Editions offered way more bang for the buck compared to the Hinderer Bowie. If you really break it down, as RamZar was pointing out it really is a lot more knife then the Hinderer Bowie for the money.

I doubt how many people still think about "bang for the buck" for knives at this price point. Yes I got the point but to some the brand name alone plays a big role as well ("Hinderer" vs "ZT").

Price point 400$ ZT LE 0392 blu bowie verses 725$ hypothetically for a production all titanium Hinderer in M390.For me the Mystique And elusiveness that Hinderer once had is long gone.

The ZT is the Superior knife with a authentic Bowie blade shape witch the Hinderer doesn't have.

Not sure where/how the $725 number is from. Can I get the Hinderer liner and G10 scale for free? Anyway, I got that for some/many folks ZT0392 is preferred to Hinderer XM-18 and I dont disagree to that. I just am curious how many would completely disregard the brand factor. I see many XM-18s got sold second hand $300-350 without much difficulty. By the same logic, people should just instead get brand new ZT0562cf, which has better steel (204p/20cv is the same as m390) and carbon fiber scale for ~$100 less.

725$ number = new Hinderer bowie g10=$425. Now add all titanium scale no liner at $200 = $625.Now add a M390 blade upgrade at 100$ = $725. If Hinderer offered this knife configuration this whould approximately be the cost to build.
ZT did it for $400.
Then you still have the Persian style s35vn blade on the Hinderer i much prefer the traditional Bowie Style on the ZT.
P.S. I wonder if Hinderer would charge another $50 for the bearings instead of the washers, bringing the cost up to a total of somewhere in the neighborhood of $775 for an all titanium Hinderer eclipse on bearings in m390 Steel.

That is a bit too much stretch. Let me try the math.

Last time I checked, a Hinderer beautiful texture ti scale costs $200, a g10 scale costs $65, not sure how much the liner but lets say $35. So to replace the g10 with the ti scale, it would need 200-65-35=100 dollars, not $200.

Does the plain ti scale on 0392 cost the same as the textured ti? I dont know, but it could be less.

Will a m390 blade cost $100 more than a s35vn blade (given everything else the same)? Again, I am not sure about other people but certainly not for me.

As for the bearings vs washers debate, it is never conclusive that ball bearing is always preferred. I have read more than a few people do not like bearing, let alone being charged $50 more.

On the ZT 0392 you have the cost of the anodizing and DLC. Hinderer Eklipse DLC adds $25.

A plain Hinderer Eklipse titanium scale is $200.

An Eklipse with all titanium with/without DLC will be $625-$650 for S35VN. Hinderer has had XM with 20CV/M390 for nominal or no increase in price.

For those who prefer washers instead of bearings the Eklipse is the choice.

For those who prefer better steel, bearings, better flipper action and steel lock bar insert the 0392 is the choice.
