Zt 0392 blu bowie

I fell in love with this version by just looking at the pictures. It's the only version of the 0392 that I think I'd keep for the long term. I've had two other versions of the 0392 but ended up selling both.

I think it looks great. :)

I like my Hinderer XM-18 Bowie blade, and I love the ergonomics of the ZT 0392, so it seems like a total win all around.

Just a few days after Christmas is tough for just about anyone. December is without question my most expensive month of the year. :(

... Couldn't resist this version though

Not if you have a fat knife wallet 😎

I just ordered one, thinking about starting a LE colllection, my edc is my xm-18 bowie so I liked this one

Most people forget that an all titanium Hinderer XM/Eklipse adds $200 to the price of a Hinderer and Hinderers have inferior flipper action, blade steel, washers, etc. I have two XMs and never use them. I hear the latest MP-1 and Half-Track are much better in every way but very pricey.

I will disagree with you on Hinderers having inferior blade steel. There was a M390 run for DLT Trading. Gen 4's have also been run in 20CV, and Gen 3's in XHP.

While most come out the factory with S35VN, you can find the aforementioned steels if you are patient.

I find the comparison to Hinderers rather pointless. People should buy 0392 first and foremost because they are ZTs, not because they are potentially Hinderer substitutes (which they are just not). Maybe I am in the minority, but I would probably choose ZT over Hinderer even if one ZT knife and one Hinderer knife are of the exact same material and price point.

I am a huge fan of the 0392 line. I think that they represent the very best that Zero Tolerance creates. That being said, I do not think I will be buying this edition. My favorite has been the BRNGLD, which I still own. I was not a particular fan of the wharncliffe blade because of its very fine tip. However, the Bowie blade is a very useful blade shape. I will wait for the next version to see if I will get in on thet Bowie 0392.

somehow I just feel the bowie blade just does not match the handle shape, maybe because I am more used to XM-18 bowie or the initial 0392 configuration.

i only think the color doesnt match, but ive seen more photos and it looks better in different light etc. so i dunno for sure. i just dont really like blue with the bowie blade, but think it would look good otherwise. maybe something rustic or outdoorsie because you know its a bowie.

3 of 6 ZT dealers still have the 0392BLUBOWIE in stock: House of Blades, Going Gear and DLT Trading.

not a surprise though.
they make 1000 of them.
Going gear and House of blades may get at lest 50 each. Other small dealers get around 10 each.
and if it sells well, ZT will restock more to these dealers.
ZT has really abused 0392 too much and not many people still hooked anymore.

Probably more like 500 in total for 0302BLUBOWIE including overseas allocations.

Having so many 0392 models with repeated blade shapes and odd color schemes has certainly reduced the desirability and secondary market pricing.

On the other hand, you could easily get one for $400 considering something similar from Hinderer would be $650+.

Pretty funny considering your other thread.

I think even 500 is high. When they first came out and people were trying to track the serials, I don't remember any over 400.

500-600ish sounds about right. Believe I've seen serial # as high as 550ish for 0392s, but don't remember seeing anything over 600.

Serial numbers are higher than the number sold by about 10%-15% since some knives fall out during QC. I figure 400-500 sold for each 0392 model is a decent ballpark figure.

Not having any ZT's, this Bowie looks tempting. But I think it's a bit too rich for my blood, I could get a lot of nice knives for 400 bucks. (e.g. I can't afford it. ) :foot:

I like what Hinderer has done with the new Half-Track models over what ZT has done with the 0392 series.

Half-Track models have lots of variations but nothing too ostentatious nor polarizing.

Various finishes like working finish, stonewash, DLC, anodized finishes, milled titanium or not, anodized hardware, etc.
