from knifecenter:

"Due to the very limited nature of this item and its high demand, it may oversell before it is unlisted. Therefore, no guarantees will be made that your order can be filled. Strict limit of one per customer. Any duplicate orders and/or multiple quantities will be cancelled. Internet orders only."

and this is why I avoided KC like the plague

well I'm over it. Cool knife but I won't pay secondary prices for it. Honestly I'm more excited about ZT's 2015 line up that isn't limited edition. More money for another Sebenza!:thumbup:

Crazy. Glad I scored one. I will be selling a couple of other knifes to pay the credit card bill for this...

Do most retail websites place a hold on an item throughout the checkout process? I don't think so but I could be wrong. It would seem to me that the inventory is fair game until the item is actually purchased.
I have no idea but mine did. I had a similar niche product that had (believe it or not) Limited Editions. Those would sell out pretty quick. I never heard of an upset customer with the "put it in your card and it's held for X amount of time" system. It shouldn't be hard for these dealers to implement that. Then again it shouldn't be hard for ZT to make 1200 of these LEs.

I think they are taking tips from Rick directly. His sales are worse than this.

I also think There will be a few more available when ZT enforces the "one per household" rule and cancels the http://goinggear.com/zero-tolerance...ng-knife-designed-by-rick-hinderer.htmlorders that people double dipped on from different retailers.

lets say for a second someone was fast enough to get atleast a couple from several dealers..... why would going gear cancel an order when only 1 was placed on their site and another was placed on lets say.... knifecenter? that makes no sense because they can't police that. They cancel multiple attempts at the same dealer

I would bet that all of these orders are going to be reviewed by ZT to ensure that people who did get multiples (or tried to ensure that they at least got one), only received one.

My thoughts EXACTLY - what's the point of this LE nonsense? To appease flippers who make several hundred dollars off YOUR product or to appease the hardcore collectors who will never take the knife out of its box and (shocker) cut with it? The only people you're hurting are the ones who really LIKE the design and want to use and enjoy it. Make enough to go around to those who want them - I'd be interested to hear any reasonable explanations as to why that can't be accomplished.

I really like ZT knives, but I think they are making some really poor decisions, many of which have led me to look elsewhere for my go-to knives. I wish they didn't do business this way. No matter how many of the usual ZT fanboys come around here to defend ZT tooth and nail, there are a LOT of frustrated people today (which is deja vu, shockingly).

ill say that it gets people talking about a brand even more... those that lost out will still likely try to buy the next one just to attempt it even if it isnt their ideal knife, and because of the hype and talk after an LE run zt will get the free advertising towards others new to the brand who will undoubtedly buy another ZT model that is readily stocked just to be part of the club.

yes they could have released 1000 of these and sold them all at their asking price- but the above is all i can think that would make some sense. i also dont know what zt's cost and acceptable risk are on a limtted run so maybe 300 is what they can produce on a production line before they have to return the line to standard blades that they make more profit on. id imagine they make more profit on a homemade design than a collaboration too- so theyd rather spend more resources on their profit. all speculation- but i have experience in consumer goods/production in other industries

I guess GPKnives will eventually have 30 or so happy customers and a couple of hundred pissed off former customers.

GPKnives servers shut down like this because it thinks a DDoS attack is happening, as long as people keep refreshing they will keep shutting down:(

In theory this could go on all day before people get tied of refreshing, then the servers can handle the load.
