The profile is actually very slim, as you can see, so it carries very well.

I was wrong, it seems the blade thickness is closer to the 0550 than the 0562. Pretty stout!

I like how they brought the jimping on the flipper back. That's one thing I wish my 0562 had.

How's it compare to the 0801s110v?

A little bit heavier, far more comfortable in the hand (for me, the 0801 is a little too short in the handle for my hands). Similar flipping, both are crazy smooth. The 0801 is a little faster but the 0392 falls closed on it's own weight a little easier (thicker, heavier blade). I much prefer the 0392.

- You were able to get a ZT0454, but a lot of people still were not able to. The secondary market on that knife wasn't exactly great either.

Better that people that are wanted them got them over some guys getting 5-10 each solely to flip them.

Just weighed it and it comes in at 5.876oz. I was expecting more, honestly. I think it feels heavier because it's more beefy and compact.

I had the option to get multiple 0454's without ZT knowing as did many other people, and I'm sure some people did get multiple. Personally, I'm happy with just 1. I would want to let the other knife nuts experience the 0454.

Cosmo, thanks for the comparison pics:thumbup:
It stands exactly where I expected, between the 0454 and 0562. Not too beefy, not too slim; perfect!

Nice comparison pics. If there's one thing Hinderer designs really well it's a very comfortable but secure handle. Should be interesting to see what info we get on the 17th and how dealers handle the sales. It's too bad ZT could not find a shopping cart system that would work. Aside from the technical problems I think the concept was much better than what had been happening previously.

I always liked the idea of a lottery. Let people put in a "ticket" with payment info a week before the release. Randomly and under relaxed conditions choose the winners, process their payment under no massive system load, and ship their knife. If there's any problem processing the payment, it gets offered to the next winner. If the NVDOW can pull it off for a few hundred thousand hunting applications, should be trivial for ZT to do it for a couple hundred knives.

Careful, I got flamed last time I suggested they should do a lottery system.

Triple Aught Design went to a lottery system and it's worked very well for them. A heck of a lot less frustration, for sure.

The problem with doing online lotteries is it's super easy to stuff the box. Getting all of your friends and family to enter for you over the course of a day or two is a lot easier than making sure all of your friends and family are on a computer at a very specific time for you.

Great knives Cosmo! Thank you for the pictures. I just got my 0392 from ZT ... I was part of of the 0454 apology too. I agree with everything Cosmo said in his comparisons. I have several ZTs and Hinderers and the 0392 is as smooth and nice as any of them. I don't have an Eklipse to compare it to but it flips as well as my XM 3 or 3.5. I did end up getting an 0454 and it is wonderful but so different that it is not really comparable IMO. Hopefully ZT will release a non LE of this knife too.

Congrats on getting one of these early! One of the other members here, austonh, posted a video review here where he compares it with an actual Eklipse (in the last 2-3 min of the review). He mentioned the flipping action was more like the custom Eklipse.

That's a great point and is well taken. It's hard to create a method that's truly fair and if someone is motivated enough they can probably tip the odds in their favor. However, it's also a problem with direct sales and dealer releases. I'd bet friends/family were shopping on the direct release as well, and I'd bet they will be on the 18th too.

I suppose in a perfect world the best solution would be for ZT to eliminate the problem before it starts by making enough quantity so the knife enthusiast community doesn't feel the need for a desperate rabid buying frenzy. It would also eliminate the 100% markup secondary market prices, which would eliminate flippers and some dealers doing shady things. However, even that's flawed because I'm sure a lot of the hardcore ZT collectors that will pay any price to increase their collection feel the more limited the numbers the better. It's the old can't please everyone problem.

Yes, this is one model that should be made so that everyone gets a slice. There shouldnt be any reason for their customers to miss out on a product that they have been waiting on since it was announced at BLADE last year. I have to assume that Thomas, and Rick would want their product in end user's hands. I recall Rick saying that his partership with ZT will get his designs out to more customers. This has been true so far..... Now is not the time to stop.

Give it the 0560CF S110v treatment. Just enough was made that everyone who wanted one (or even two) got it at retail prices. Flippers were left scratching their heads.

I was just picturing a room full a laptop computers with friends and family sitting in front of them waiting for the release! Ready BUY!!!
