That's an excellent point.

I would like to make two other points in conjunction with your own.

1. In reality, the amount of guys that get multiples to flip is very small, minute even. The only reason it feels large and overwhelming is due to the massive attention we give flippers in these types of threads. I'm going to raise my hand and plead guilt in regard to my interest in such a subject. But again, it's a very small number.

2. The more 'honest' knife enthusiasts who try to get online during the release date and get these knives, leaves less for the flippers. So why don't we start the "Screw You Flippers" knife buying campaign, where everyone who can reasonably afford it, works their asses off just to ensure that less of these LE knives fall into the wrong hands. :thumbup:

I received my knife from Europe on 2/2/15, and let me tell you with absolute certainty, that this is a LE you will want to carry and use without worry of marring it up.

It's a nice looking knife; but I have yet to look at any of the images and WANT it. I still might try to grab one, though; as a good friend of mine does, but is temporarily unable to make such a purchase. (I learned a long time ago not to do that; but I figure, if he bails, there's a reasonable chance I'll like it once I've got it in hand...if not I wouldn't have an issue getting my money back on the exchange. All that ASSumes that I'll even manage to get one, lol)

I feel the same way. The blue hardware with the silver frame is way overdone. The knife doesn't seem very unique for a limited edition.

My first ZT was a 0560 (in my back pocket right now) that I bought for myself for my 30th birthday and when I decided to become sober. I am hoping that my 2nd ZT will be the 0392 for my 32nd birthday and to celebrate a couple years of sobriety

I like having a reminder of certain things in life, and knowing that I will be able to pass these down to my kids and/or grandkids.

Anyone get the list yet?

I contacted two of my favorite dealers. One told me they're not sure if they're going to get the knife. The other one, that has ZT dealer exclusive models, says they're not going to get the 392.

I get what is ZT is doing, but from a consumer standpoint it's more than a little bit frustrating.

I doubt anyone would admit they were getting it before any official announcement. It's also possible they just don't know.

I love how they are doing this.... keeping everyone in the dark. For the most part it keeps the hawks at bay from calling their friends at their favorite dealer and getting hooked up. I'm sure that will happen a bit still, but I think ZT/KAI is trying to do their best to get things out there for people to enjoy. I wish they did it like the zt0801 s110v...... don't tell a soul haha

i just got off the phone with a smaller dealer that I was inquiring about the 0630 coming out soon. I asked about the 0392 and he said only "top tier dealers" would be getting them and expressed frustration over this. So who are the top tier dealers?

I would guess BladeHQ and GPKnives for sure. Possibly HouseofBlades or KnivesShipFree? KershawGuy is probably getting some as well, but he generally keeps a list of those interested and they are likely all spoken for already.

I do too and that's why I wont call to hound them. The only reason I asked the dealer I was talking to is because I was already on the phone about a different knife and thought it wouldn't hurt. If I happen to see one for sale I'll probably go for it, but I won't be burning out my F5 key trying to catch one. Good luck guys.... the secondary on these is going to be absolutely stupid. My guess is even the people who want to carry and use it see the secondary and still put it up for sale, and when the market gets flooded with overpriced 0392's lol......

This is not gonna end well is it.

There is gonna be a lot of butt hurt.

Yes it's damned if you do, damned if you don't... However they release it, there will be those who are going to be disappointed.

Couple things:
1) Making plenty (like the 0560CBCF) and perhaps adding additional runs with slight variations (like the Tilt) should help make as many CUSTOMERS as happy as possible. Some will argue that making plenty tones down the spirit of "LE". Well if you have a problem with it, you are either a flipper or one selfish MFer. Or both. Let us all eat.

2) Selling direct is not perfect either but it eliminates a lot of the games such as buddy "hookups", unreasonable first sale mark ups, dealers flipping on Ebay, dealers preordering without a guarantee, jumping through hoops and begging dealers on the phone, days to weeks of scouring leads and clues and other bullshit.

3) Yeah, I've missed out on Kershawguys preorders, one example is the 801CF... I emailed him same day of BLADE and I had to email him after it was released and was told that "oops sorry I sold them all already". Couple weeks after that he emailed me that he had one for $450 (or $550? don't recall exact). Like uhh ok. And this is MY GOTO dealer...It's like pulling teeth.

4) I refuse to pay flippers for a LE days after release. I would suggest we all do this but that's not gonna happen.

I don't know - If I had customers who bought lots of expensive knives from me, I'd be inclined to treat them favorably too. There simply is no way to distribute this kind of product that's going to make everyone happy. If ZT sells them all directly, they cut out their dealers. If they sell them through their dealers, some customers are going to get preferential treatment. There's just no way to make everyone happy.
