Kai moved to Colorado? That was an awfully quick move. Guess they need the extra factory space if they're going to flood the market with more 0392s.

I have never heard of a KAI or ZT plant in Colorado, but would love to hear a confirmation one way or the other.

OK, I heard back from KAI so I will post up what I have... My camera can't really show how bad it looks, But the pivot screw is very worn looking. I guess I would call it a thin anodizing that already has this wear on it.. Its basicly a different color ... You can see how it "should" look in the deep part of the screw slot. There is also a circular scratch right through the anodizing showing the silver color underneath...I was not trying to be picky, my eye jumped right to it when I opened up, its extremely noticeable in hand vs pictures. I also have 2 standoffs that purple instead of blue. I can't for the life of me get it to show up in photos though... The shadows of the Ti messes up the photo.

I guess I thought for a $400 limited edition with a fancy box and coa, it would have been in "show piece" condition when new...

Maybe I'm wrong, But I am disappointed.

Btw-- KAI said "this is how they are."

You should never buy a strider then lol. Honestly... if it bothers you, you can always sell it for ahat you paid and then some.

Maybe you should contact Hinderer since they made the hardware. Who am I kidding. Rob will probably say "maybe the knife just isn't for you".

BTW I'm with you on that pivot. Not so much the color of the anodizing but that scratch shouldn't be there.

Lol..... this run is done. There is an interview video that confirms more coming. Likely won't be the same setup. Different finish, hardware, etc.

Based on your expectations, this definitely was not the right choice of ZT LE's. Any other ZT LE probably would have been fine for you (all of mine came out of their boxes looking like the showpieces you expected), but as has been pointed out, your 0392 looks pretty much as they are supposed to look. To help with understanding this you might want to compare yours to one of the RHK customs if possible.

On the bright side you probably will not have any difficulty selling it and at the very minimum breaking even or possibly make a profit. You might even be able to trade it for one of the other LE's.

Yeah, I guess I expected a new knife to look new... I also have a hard time wrapping my head around ZT response of "that's how they are" this knife looks stupid with the wrong colored hardware on it and the thin anodizing...

I was told up thread that "this is how rick Hinderer makes his hardware, with a thin coat thay wears off easily" Why would any one want rick Hinderer hardware if he sucks at anodizing?

Again, the picture sucks at showing the contrast between the colors, its extremely obvious that the stand off is anything but blue...straight up purple...

232 arrived on Monday.
I like the sealed outer box so the serial number was unknown to the dealers, no picking, just random numbers.

Hmm...the label on the sealed outer box also contains the serial #. It's the last four digits of the bottom # on the label.

cyprant hard to tell by pics maybe try wiping the hardware with windex and see if that evens the colors out.

My only small complaint is one of the faces of the standoff screws is unevenly ground around the edges so its not quite circular. The annodizing looks fine, but it suprised me after hearing about all the precision machinery that went into Hinderer parts. I still love the knife, and its only a very minor cosmetic complaint.
