ANYTHING you buy, be it a $35K SUV or a $400 pair of headphones "can" have issues...things happen, but as long as the manufacturer takes care of the issue then you're good to go. This is putting aside the fact that we're ALL a little nuts here and that's putting it kindly. I admit that as soon as I open the box I check for a centered blade, I check the lock up, I look for an even grind and I do care about having a nice solid detent. A guy that wasn't a knife lover/collector/nut would simply remove the knife from the box and if they didn't die of a heart attack when they saw the price, they'd check to see if the knife opened and closed and they'd move on.

How can ANY knife company please all of its customers when one guy wants a very early lockup and another says he'd never trust an early lockup...a detent that's way too strong for one is perfect for me because I don't want the knife to ever open in my pocket. If we all have a "somewhat" different idea of what is "ideal" then what is a manufacturer suppose to do beyond trying its best to take care of unhappy customers? In my opinion that's all ANY company can do and from what I've read here that's exactly what KAI/ZT has done.

Its very possible that I've been extremely lucky (knock on wood), yet when my new 0777M390 arrives today that'll give me 8 ZT's (0777M390, 0600, 0560, 0300, 0301,0550 Gen II, 0200, 0121) and so far I haven't needed to send ANY of them in for ANY issues whatsoever.

I use ALL of my knives, I use them to "cut things" and not for jobs intended for other tools and at the age of 48 I've NEVER had a lock fail on me, be it liner-lock or framelock. I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that my first knife was a slipjoint. If you use a slipjoint for years and never have an issue with it closing on your fingers (at least that I can recall) you should be all set once you start using knives that actually have a blade lock.

If anyone here is having issue after issue with ANY brand of knife then its probably best that they give another knife company a try. I admit that I love ZT knives, why wouldn't I when I've never had an issue and if I did I'm certain that given the chance that they'd take care of it.

Oh and by the way, the more I handle my new 0600 the more I'm loving it.

Who, you and the other guy that got a free 0600 serial #2. from KAI? Thought so...

Two different members actually.

Towards the end of the video it's appears you try and disengage the lock without your thumb on the lock-bar and fail, twice. I don't want to dig up drama, but it's fairly obvious you harbor some malice against KAI. if you're having a problem with yours contact ZT, or start your own thread. I'd like to keep reading through this one without it getting derailed or Turing into a grudge match between members.

Guys, seriously. This "was" the most decent 0600 thread out there. Let's not kill the thread.

That's why I was asking about the 0600, there didn't seem to be as much here about this model as we usually see with all other ZT's. Its the first ZT I've bought that I didn't know much about before purchasing it. It's a big, solidly built beast that's for sure.

I got mine, serial#497. Nicely finished, centered and no blade play and very smooth opening and closing with early lockup. I have many knives that open smoothly but closing this knife is also a treat. Could be a little sharper imo. Although I am new to this forum and it is a thick hunk of steel and I presume I cannot expect the ultimate in sharpness from such a blade. I have come to expect sharpness to be only so so from ZT. Very happy all in all.

I was basically going to ask the same of duro, as I'm actually surprised he continues to buy their knives, only to find something wrong and post about it. I would have moved on by now if I were him, but I have no issues with any of my ZTs, so I'm still buying. Different strokes I guess.

Lol. Thanks for digging up the thread. I forgot how obvious it was in the video.

After hard use, THats all im going to say

Nice job on that edge...I need to order a Wicked Edge or something along that line.

just spring for the wicked edge, ive used the lansky, spyderco sharpmaker and a few run throughs and nothing creates exactly the same edge, every single time(minus user error lol) like the wicked edge does. I will never change

The ONLY other sharpener that's caught my attention is the KME Sharpener (Diamond version) with the JewelStik to sharpen all of my recurve blades.
Either way, I'm going to buy another system to go with my Sharpmaker, I have the diamond and Ultra rods and thus far I've had no problems keeping my blades sharp but if you want to re-profile a blade it can be very time consuming...maybe its that way with all sharpeners other than a belt grinder.

How did you find the B75P steel of the 0600 compared to other steels you've sharpened?

I have serial # 494, f and f are a 9.5 out of 10. I love the size and blade shape, but I'm going to say that this is the least sharp knife out of the box I've ever purchased. I'm only comparing it to other, new blades.

Wow and adding duro to the ignore list, credibility lost cannot be regained.

I love my 0600 and agree with others, it is almost a custom quality piece.

How did you find the B75P steel of the 0600 compared to other steels you've sharpened?

THe b75p probably compares somewhere between elmax and vanax from the tilt as far as hardness and difficulty to sharpen. If elmax should take say an hour, and vanax 2.5 hours, this is probably around 1:45. Its very very hard, ive heard somewhere near 62 on rockwell. Honestly i spent the day yesterday clearing out weeds and brush in my yard, plus cutting a mass of rope from my mower with this thing and it never thought twice, even after chopping and swinging with it. Def my favorite knife to date.

I don't harbor any malice. The 0600 is a better knife, which is why I bought it. I will say however, it's not as put together as Greenie's example. I still like the knife and only asked if I could tune it up myself, given the nature of the lock bar insert.

Those that deny my claims, need to lose the fan boy moniker. I'm simply calling a spade, a spade.

alrighty then. To answer your question, no, along with the visible screw on the outside of the lock-bar there is a pressure fitted pin.

I woudl have to say that its not inherently adjustable no, the backing plate has three locating studs on the ti side that the steel insert aligns with. There is nothing slotted or adjustable about it. IF you have an issue with up and down play, please contact KAI with your issue, send it in and I can gaurantee that you will have the issue resolved. I know this has been covered before on both the 550 and the 560 threads beacause they are titanium locks and have tendencies to wear when contacting steel. Please, go to

http://kershaw.kaiusaltd.com/warranty

or call

PHONE 1.800.325.2891 TOLL FREE OR 503.682.1966 LOCALLY

with any issues

I know people hate on issues, but please, please do not derail this thread any further, its been very good, very informative and I have had fun giving input. Place all butthurt aside, now discuss amongst yourselves.

If its not right, send it in, but stop bitching about it on the boards. They have the best customer service around.
