ZT 0770CF - A True Gentleman's Folder from Zero Tolerance

While I no longer like SpeedSafe, I must admit that SpeedSafe assisted knives was what originally drove me to buy my first quality knife. A knife was just a knife until I turned 16 and discovered the recently released Kershaw assisted knives and I had to have one (three ;)).

So, I may complain about the particulars of some current and upcoming releases, but I can't deny that KAI knows how to make a popular knife.

I know KAI will make at least one nearly perfect knife for my particular tastes. I wish I was enough of a man to enjoy the 0300. ;)

I have no problem with speedsafe. Not a deal breaker whatsoever.Aluminum scales are more of a deal breaker to me.Actually I think I need another AO knife in the my lineup. Thanks for all the insight Jim and KAI.

Lots of people initially struggle opening the manual thumbstud-opening 0550.

Perhaps a short video by KAI showing the proper technique to open the various opening mechanisms as a sticky?!

I've learned how to flick the 0550 open with my middle finger like a spyderco. That's what happens when you have too much time on your hands. :p

if you can not open a 0550, i have 2, blk and 0551 go too the 0350kw it similer knife almost size wise. No Ti hinder but solid enough lock up. While i never fail too deploy my EDC clipped, 0551, i may if i use a speed safe 0350 prior. lazy thumb after the speed safe. 0801CF ewwwwww sweet! KAI really is making smart moves with and the carbon fiber,

bottom line is if you use both you your thumb may get a little lazy when going from speedsafe to manual.

I have the bronze VDP 0801CF and 0600 on pre order - that bronze knife is total new and brillant move by kai. Next is the 0770CF really good moves by the company!

Note: I also have some of the chineese made speedsafe knives. Thry are real bargin, for camp or general beating up. I a tremmer ST it is a beast, the RJII is nice. I had a shallot, gave it away too cop this weekend at the wedding, he looked at it, wasn't sure how to open it. I go here and flicked it out and folded it up one handed, and handed it too him in 2 seconds. I asked first, of coarse, if it was ok to demo it - he had a big grin!

Dad got a D2 CB leek, last week! My EDC suit knife, use my blur until i get a new one.

Blur is a really nice speed safe US made, thicker blade then the shallot small then ZT. Nice EDC too!

kewshaw strong for 32 years!

You shouldn't need a "technique" to open a knife. That sounds silly.
Give it some wrist!

You shouldn't need "wrist" to open a knife. THAT, sounds silly. :)
If you need "wrist" to open a knife, then SpeedSafe is definitely something worth considering, no "technique" necessary.

I truly don't understand the people who cannot seem to reassemble a knife after they've taken it apart. I mean didn't you watch the knife come apart?

Scary thing is those same people share the road with us.... And vote.

Agreed.

^Bingo. Manual knives require some proficiency to use properly as far as deployment goes. Saying you shouldn't need technique to open a manual knife is similar (I think) to saying one shouldn't need skill to operate a manual transmission.

Thanks for the "How To" videos.

Now, I can have a source to link to in case someone asks... No harm in asking.

There was a time when some of us first started playing with knives and had cuts to prove it :D

My two cents: Let's not be elitists now that we are knowledgeable and proficient...

No one ever said it was. Not that "rocket" is an actual science, but the engineers that work on spacecraft go to school for many years in order to be qualified. We're talking about a little practice, no need to be so snooty. :D

And there is Stick to the rescue on proper knife flick and flip technique. Nice choil on the 0560 btw.

The ZT 0770CF now appears on the ZT website with an MSRP of $225.00. It says "Limited Edition" but I believe it's supposed to be Regular Production?!

At this point it is undetermined how we will be selling the aluminum version. My guess is that you will see that sold as an exclusive to one dealer.

I would actually prefer the aluminum version over the cf version. Hope I don't miss out.

It's very dangerous sitting with a glass of wine in front of the computer......

Pre-Ordered the 0770 CF :D. :triumphant:

Good for you, Ruudr. :D I'll hold off ordering one until they hit dealer shelves. I like to be able to compare prices before I pull the trigger. And being a regular production item, they shouldn't be terribly difficult to locate once they're released.
