ZT 0770CF - A True Gentleman's Folder from Zero Tolerance

The blade shape looks an awful lot like the Spydie Southard. Well, the lower part, anyway. The spine area not so much.

Wow, what have you been smoking? That sounds about right if you are Ray Charles. I think it looks more like a miniature 0777.

LOL. I don't see much resemblance between the Southard and the 0770CF. They're both great knives though . . . or, they will be once the 0770CF gets here.

A) No it doesn't

B) There are only so many ways to shape a blade

C) The blade is just a shrunken down, non CB version of the of 0777

. . . which is part of the reason it's so appealing IMO. The 0770CF is a good looking knife with excellent materials in a lightweight package from a well-respected company. What's not to like? :)

It's just an opinion guys. No need to jump down his throat about it.
I love the blade shape. It looks like a CRK Insingo.

I have enough money to budget one more folder for this year (need money for the next two semesters :P) and I think I'll pick up one of these. Its so purdy, so fibery, so.. awesome.

I may have to preorder!

Can't wait for them to black it out next year....or black wash it maybe?

Black blade + carbine fiber scales go very well together. I don't know about Blachwashed blade + CF scales. Have to see pictures first.

You do realize that this design pre-dated the Southard design, right? That being said, I love the Southard design, and I don't see the resemblance between these two knives at all.

I just noticed a few of my knives use the same type of cylindrical stop-pin as the 0770.
Insidious coincidence? ;)

If it comes with a black blade it's just an oppertunity to buy another one. Pre-ordered the 0770 CF and the 0566 :D

Originality is, I'd imagine, the most difficult aspect of new knife making/design. How to you come up with something new and original looking that has never been done before, that will also perform well at various tasks, yet will also be universally well received? I think ZT nailed it with the 770/777. I can't say for sure, not owning either, but I've no doubt it'll be great.

Agreed!

Neither do I. As much as I like the Southard, it's really not a "gentleman's knife" . . . or at least it's not to me. And I own a lot of gentlemen's knives.

Never mind all the comments above I say.
Saw the head line, then saw the pics of it!

Bam!

Exactly what the 0561 did with me (and the Para2, but lets not speak of that here).
Love it! Have to get one!

Hope my shipper is willing to make another run!

Lots of people initially struggle opening the manual thumbstud-opening 0550.

Perhaps a short video by KAI showing the proper technique to open the various opening mechanisms as a sticky?!

In the case of the 0550, it was far less to do with technique and far more to do with the unacceptable detent on some examples.
