ZT 0801 lock bar slip; Does yours exhibit this behavior?

Maybe I'm missing something but if I push hard enough on any of my framelocks they will move some, why is that a problem?

I think that KAI, Duro and BF would all be better served if Duro never purchased a KAI product again.

No need to be wise here people...

You've made that apparent.

As I get older, I think less about treating symptoms and more on resolving issues at the core. Two things that jumped out to me quickly:

- You're having an unrealistic quantity of issues in contrast to hundreds, if not thousands, of other customers. You opine on these issues, often without pictures, proof or tact all the while stating you understand the causes and know how to resolve them. I suggest you start a career in knife design so Kai can pay you the big bucks, start a custom knife company, or sell watches on HSN.

- I wonder if the developers building those houses are aware of the trespassing and destruction of property?

You sir are correct. It's time to forget about production knives and move further into customs.
You've got to be joking ... right? You're killing me man. Who on GODS green earth would want to sell you their custom made knife? If someone gave you a free one carrot diamond you'd start a dang thread complaining it wasn't two carrots and be dragging their name through the mud. The KAI forum is GONE!
Really , if you picked up a skank and got some exotic std are you going to ask her on a second date ? Duro, take up golf or something and leave these knife makers alone,it's their livelihood.

I thought the lock slip he was alluding to was from pressure on the blade, my bad. Any framelock can be made to lock up late (even those with steel inserts) with enough pressure, but yea, that's not failure. It's the nature of the design.

I have one of these on the way via trade and I'm a little worried....about how much stuff I'm gonna cut when it arrives!!

While I do not know the OPs history on the forum, what I have come to notice is that people attack anybody who do not sing the praises of KAI/ZT and it sickens me to some extent. People are not allowed to freely express their views on said company. I thought intelligent knife conversation would allow criticisms and compliments but I guess not. I have hit and miss knives (more hits than miss) from ZT and it seems people would rather hide the problems of KAI/ZT and ATTACK the people who express these problems. Yet these same people would publicly denounce other companies such as Microtech or others. Just something I have noticed.

A little bit of research on your part would have cleared this entire post up for you.

It's not the people it's the misinformation.. And then instead of contacting said company they make threads that are misleading. I've had a few problems. But I don't make threads. I contact ZT, or CKRT or Benchmade.. The thing is no one makes threads when a CS department makes it right or starts a "insert company here" helped me out thread.. No company is perfect. But all people do is complain and point fingers and make assumptions and that's why many knife companies don't respond or stick around.

Yup, research is your friend. Intelligent criticisms and concerns are always welcomed, many of us have discussed and addressed these without incident. Blatantly attacking a specific manufacturer over and over again about one "unintelligent" thing after another... And disrespecting mods... Gets you flamed for life.

No issues here.
I love my 801, it works perfectly.
Awesome knife, I wouldn't change a thing.
Definitely a Home run ZT!
Excellent job, keep up the great work.

Funny thread.

If KAI could pay someone to NOT buy their products, payments would be made to duro.

And why doesn't duro post his own video? One from Jdavis is hardly to be taken as fact.

But I guess it is on Youtube, so it must be true.

Bon jour Duro.

Ditto. And can't wait for the LE Version too.

One of my favorite ZTs

Expressing a view is one thing, starting a thread without ever having tried to alleviate the issue is another thing entirely. I don't start a thread every time I have an issue with a product or service. I have had issues with products by quite a few companies including KAI. I followed the protocol set forth by each company and my problem was corrected. Maybe if the OP tried that instead of always taking pot shots at KAI products he would be received with less criticism. Give it a month or so and he will have another thread started with the newest YT inspired "defect" that is affecting him. We have given this topic and this person far more time than they ever deserved.

OP I read your post, and watched the video at the time you suggested. I think you have a valid concern, and I don't think you are a troll like others have said.

The behavior of the knife in the video shows that the lock bar hasn't been set correctly during the manufacturing process. Frame lock knives are meant to travel a bit when being gripped and used, but not that far - certainly not on a brand new knife. as far as sending it in, I would just use the knife normally and see things out. the knife is not dangerous, the worst that will happen over time is it will develop lock rock/play instead of closing on your fingers type failure.

It's immature to call OP a troll. if someone has a concern they don't need to keep it in the dark, especially if he thinks this is becoming a trend people should know about it. He also wanted advice on what to do about it... how is that "trolling"

Clearly this thread is the first of Duro's that you have read.
