Zt0392

I wouldn't call the pocketclip on the 392 a deep carry by any stretch. It's about as non-deep carry as it gets imo.

Took a second look. I've gotten so used to the ZT loop over clips that my brain imposed one on what I was seeing. I might be in the market for an 0562, after all.

I think you just had another brain fart! LOL. The 0562 uses a new low rider clip (but it's still a low rider), the 0392 uses the non low rider Hinderer clip.

I'm excited for this one, I sure hope they make enough to at least get relatively close to meeting demand. I love my full Ti Hinderer, I have been waiting (and praying) for a full Ti ZT like this!

Rick Hinderer is making the following custom parts for the Zero Tolerance 0392:

  • Steel pivot screw
  • Titanium tube spacers
  • Titanium handle screws
  • Titanium clip
  • Titanium filler tab

ZERO TOLERANCE INTRODUCES FACTORY CUSTOM, A NEW CONCEPT IN KNIFEMAKING

It's interesting, not sure I like the finger grooves, as a rule I typically don't like being locked into the hand positions they tend to force you to use, the Sebenza 25 is a great example my fingers are rarely comfortable in various grips. If a guy can get them at pre-order or reasonable price (MSRP or less) I might bite on one, but secondary on these, like most limited editions as of late, will be ridiculous, probably about what a Hinderer costs on the boards. We probably have a long time to save up, depending on how many they make, and the fact they also have to rely on Hinderer to provide many of the parts, it could be awhile.

I could be wrong (someone feel free to correct me) but I doubt the screws/spacers/clip etc. that Hinderer is providing are actually "Handmade" as ZT is promoting, or at least what I'd consider handmade.

Not sure what you consider "hand made" they are manufactured on some sort of machine (lathe/screw machine) and anodized at the Hinderer facility.

Pretty sure this is how Rick makes the standoffs.

I suppose everyone has their definition of "handmade", but if that's all it takes to qualify I'd image most mid to upper end production knives could be labeled as produced from "handmade custom parts" as I'd guess that's how just about every screw/standoff out there is made, though I suppose some super cheap ones could be MIM. It's good marketing though for the masses.

I wouldn't consider small parts, screws etc. that come off a screw machine or CNC to be handmade, I mean if that's the qualifier there's a whole lot of "handmade" knives out there that have been labeled production knives.

guess its an opinion. If it doesnt meet your definition I guess you dont need to bother with it. All the better for me !

When were these marketed as "handmade?" I may have seen the term "factory custom" being put out, but I definitely don't recall handmade.

From the following link posted previously:

ZT Link

"Factory Custom brings together handmade custom knife parts with ZT precision-manufactured parts to create a new class of ultra-premium knives."

I do agree to some point. Although it is certainly "custom hardware" it may not be "handmade" in a traditional sense. The main difference is that Rick is making his knives and parts on a much smaller scale versus ZT who is a large corporation. Although I wouldn't call them "handmade" either.

I dont see many custom knives being labeled as "handmade knives", because truly, it's misleading.

Not sure if this has been posted on this thread or is already common knowledge, but I just emailed Dave (KershawGuy) today and he said that ZT will no longer be sending limited editions to dealers - the only place to get one will be ZT's website. At least that means we only have to check one website each day to see when preorders are up. That also means we'll be paying full MSRP, but IMO that price is pretty reasonable for this knife.

I'd consider that good news.

It will be interesting to see if ZT even allows a pre-order or if they are just going to randomly put very limited numbers up for sale here and there. If it's the later unless you have an in with ZT or sit in front of a computer all day I wouldn't hold your breath for anything other than ridiculous secondary market prices.

Nope. I'm holding off on the 562 pre-order on the off chance they drop at the same time. Can't swing both if they do come at the same time. At least the 562 is not an LE.
