Zt0392

I don't understand what's taking ZT so long? We are now in the 4th qrt of the year and still no release date....

ZT often takes a long time with LE knives. Could be another year for all we know. When it's announced you'll hear about it.

When it's announced, if you don't move quickly, i.e. within an hour or two, you will be paying 2x MSRP. For reference, see 0454 on the exchange right now. What I am trying to say is that if you really want one without paying insane overinflated secondary prices, you need to be astute and watch closely and find out exactly when these go on sale. When I say exactly, I literally mean the exact hour of the exact day, otherwise instead of paying $375, you will be paying $600+, trust me.

I don't think it'll be as bad as all that. If they do it like they did the 0454 sale (and presumably that's the plan) they will announce the date and time of the sale a couple weeks in advance. If you miss THAT sale (even by a minute or two), you can definitely expect to be pay more than you would for an actual Hinderer. I would definitely have an account premade with KAI to speed up the ordering process and sign up for their newsletter though.

That's exactly what I meant, if you're not vigilant and you miss your window you will be SOL.

I am so ready!! I was going to buy a XM 18 3.5 but I like the full titanium, m390, and KVT of this knife.
Oh and my account has been created!!

Good news with this model is that they have several runs planned with different blade shapes and colored hardware. All 0392s will be interchangeable, and compatible with Hinderer hardware. So if you miss the first run and are patient, there will be other opportunities down the line. The secondary market prices will certainly decrease as time goes on and new runs are released.

I wouldn't count on KAI doing it the same way...
I can assure you that they were very unhappy with the results of the 0454.

Time will tell though.

They are tweaking the process, but it will be online direct purchase, pre-announced, like last time.

The main problem last time was the goobers who kept carting them just to let it expire and frustrate serious buyers ...it monkeyed up their inventory system a little bit.

Word is they have it fixed.

- Sounds like you're not familiar with ZT's production process. They no longer announce release dates. Knives will be released when they are released. Some knives like the ZT0777 took quite a while...

I would guess they are focusing on getting the Ruby out first and then the 0392 will follow up.

If you look back at how many new items they have produced and released lately, its really amazing!!

I fully agree. The real deal Eklipses have been selling between $600-$750, usually closer to $600 recently. I fully expect the ZT version to go for $1000 initially then $850 after the initial demand goes down a bit. Its pretty ridiculous, which is why I'm not going to bother with it. Not to mention the already difficult time getting Hinderer hardware, its not like there will be any increase in production. For the price of the ZT limited runs (secondary market), Id rather get a full custom from any number of other makers.

I don't think that the 392 would sell for more than the real Eklipse. :) Am i missing something?

Limited production, full Ti, bearing pivot that actually flips, M390... I fully expect the ZT version to sell for well above what an Eklipse goes for.

I believe the real deal is limited as well. I had one of the original production Eklipse from the first batch of 50. I know they made another run of 25 and made some for the gathering so that's pretty limited as well. Also the heat treat on the S35VN that Hinderer does is outstanding. I doubt in everyday use you'd see a difference. As far as flipping my Eklipse fired hard. It's not a light switch style flipping action but a push button. I could fire it just as hard as the 0392. I handled both at Blade. The all Ti is nice and I prefer the blade shape on the 0392 and that's the only reason I got rid of my Eklipse. The tanto never grew on me.

I can't guess what the secondary market will do but it will all be based on speculation as a lot of comments in here are based on speculation.

However, few people can get an Eklipse at direct price ($420). Dealer markup on those is as high as +100%.
