Well I just got to play around w/ a 450... haven't gotten to handle the 454 yet though. These things have sweet action, solid lock up, feel like a great EDC! It is a little bit thick at the edge (for my liking). You really can turn this into a beautiful knife!

I know the 0550/0560 clip does the job, but I'm a little bothered that it extends beyond the butt of the handle...I know, first world problems, but a legitimate question. And if you have one of those clips, are you feeling the same way?

My 0450 sports a 0550 clip. Normally, I'd agree that having the clip extend past the knife is... a little weird. But I really don't mind it on the 0450. The knife & the 'hang over' of the clip is so small that I didn't even notice at first!
(And yes, I love my 0450.) Here's a family photo w/ that clip installed:

Got mine yesterday, definitely liked it, but it had one problem: in the closed position, when there was any pressure placed on the lock bar, the detent would sink deeper and stick into the blade, resulting in a really really really difficult flip, even if there is no fingers/pressure on the lock bar during the flipping process. Packed it up and sent it back to ZT for repair. Anyone else run into this problem? I never had any of these problems with any of my other framelocks.

My 0562 had that same problem! You could push in the lock bar - it'd click in deeper, and become super, super hard to flip open. (My first ZT "problem," ever.)

I sent it in, and used the mailing as an excuse to have factory sharpening on a few others. They fixed it (and sharpened all I sent in) perfectly. Super impressed with ZT's warranty department!

Has anyone seen the limited Sinkevich ZT0450 series only 20 made and there is one for sale now on the board. Interesting but a little too spendy for me.

Mine just arrived. The only thing holding me back from declaring this my favorite knife is that my fingers won't all fit in the grip. The handle is easily long enough, but my pinky just floats awkwardly on the sharp edge at the tail of the knife. It's disappointing that such a great design just doesn't fit my hands comfortably.

Hi, Havoc, I knew this "going in" but bought it anyway, and plan to Dremel back the lips on the bottom of the scales as I have shown. There is lots of slop room in there, far away from the blade, and will make room for my pinky.
My detent is a bugger to deploy, like some others, but I'm trying to see if it will "work in" or if that is just "hooey."
:)
Nice knife, though.

Look's like a cool mod

Well, I've flipped my 0450 over four hundred times so far in the last two days, and it's as tough to flip now as ever. Sometimes, I can't flip it, and my finger is about dead. I have used a leather glove recently.
I've sent an email to ZT; we'll see what happens.
The lockbar sits about about 50% and doesn't move under finger pressure, so I cannot fault it other than detent.

I made a video on my zt 0450 awhile back and I don't believe I shared it here yet. Any feedback would be great:thumbup:

My 2 gripes about this knife, D shaped pivot so it doesn't spin, and instead of 2 screws for the barrel, they should've had 4. Pretty much you know it's a fantastic knife if the only fault are the screws.

Oh and, the titanium, cant choose a color..... Rival1314, might have to copy you a little bit, that looks so sweet with the dual polished/acid stonewash on the blade and pocket clip. Really brings the knife together!

i know it has been a while since your post, but did you regrind your 0450? that's the thing that sort of bothered on mine that is was such a "thick" blade and not a slicey grind.

My 0450 came a bit on the dull side when I got it. That would be my biggest complaint on the knife. I asked ZT for a 550 clip to throw on it as well. Which IMO it should have came with to start. Overhang I could care less about, if anything it will make the knife hid better in pocket.

how do you like the 450 compared to the 770. I held the 770 at basspro and liked that I could easily close it with a single hand. Some of the kershaw assisted knives really need two hands to close which I am not a fan of.

I was thinking of adding the 770, out of the two what do you find yourself carrying more?

Great questions! I like them equally, for different reasons (more on that below). And I carry them both a similar amount, but would lean slightly toward the 770. Both are excellent "out on the town" knives (here in knife-friendly Oregon) and I'll carry both for social occasions, too. But the 770's blade shape wins me over when I'm just around the house. The 0770's semi-wharncliff shape reminds me of my CR Insingo -- I love it. Having less of an upswept curve in the tip of blade (like the 0450) means it's easier angle the knife so as to actually use the tip, too, and generally gives more usable blade for food prep, etc.

Other thoughts:
0450:
-"Feels" a little more people-friendly, with it's slightly more traditional looks. (It also lacks speed safe, so theoretically you could open it more slowly... but the detent on mine is so deliciously strong, that it simply fires like a rocket, and just as fast as the 0770).
-Both knives virtually disappear and feel comparable in the pocket, but if forced to pick I'd say the 0450 is even more pocket friendly.
-I've had even non-knife people say "whoa, that is a gorgeous knife..."
-The grip is weirdly good for me. I have size medium hands... my pinky wraps around the end of the handle (the part that's curved up), but feels incredibly secure, esp. for a titanium handle!

0770cfm4 (my current version):
-"Feels" a little more versatile. It's not a knife I'd grab when heading out for yard work or a garage project... but it can work fine in that role, if you don't mind subjecting it to the abuse.
-The handle gives you more real estate to work with, has more potential for use with gloves on, etc. And I love the feel of the carbon fiber... but for me, this handle shape can't quite match the comfort of the skinny little 0450. (This was a surprise!)
-Did I mention the blade shape? I like it so much I've been tempted to get an aluminum version, just to have a beater. (Can't quite justify it though...)
-I tried de-assisting mine, and... didn't like the result. (Sure I could still open it, but it took wrist flick... it felt like it was missing something!)

Again, if I had to pick one I'd probably pick the 0770. It's slightly more versatile for me... and I'd say even more unique than that gorgeous 0450.
