Zt0450

If you're using Loctite Threadlocker Blue 242, the curing time on that is actually 24 hours per their directions.

When using thread seal tape, if it doesn't hold with just the usual 3-5 layers, I've sometimes wrapped it around to add a few more layers, which has worked for me. You could try that. I don't know how much different brands can vary as far as the thickness of the thread seal tape itself, but that could play a factor as well (in how many layers to use).

I've also heard of people using a small, thin O-ring to help hold it in place. I haven't tried it personally, but you could also give that a shot.

Is anyone else having issues with their pivot loosening? Mine started out slightly favoring the presentation side but over the course of an hour of fondling the knife it had worked its way so far over that the blade was rubbing the lock side. I disassembled the knife and put it back together with a lot of Locktite, let it cure for 12 hours, but quickly had the exact same issue.

I also tried the thread locking tape (can't think of what it's called for the life of me) that I usually put in my Benchmades, but it too is loosening right up.

I don't have a 450 but my 452 came with a ton of oil in the pivot (the actual pivot, like in the threads). That made loctite not work and i'm sure teflon tape too. I disassembled, cleaned the pivot with acetone, reassembled and used loctite. Worked perfectly.

Loctite blue actually cures in 30 minutes, but doesn't reach full strength until 24 hours.

But I don't use blue ;)

Got mine yesterday, definitely liked it, but it had one problem: in the closed position, when there was any pressure placed on the lock bar, the detent would sink deeper and stick into the blade, resulting in a really really really difficult flip, even if there is no fingers/pressure on the lock bar during the flipping process. Packed it up and sent it back to ZT for repair. Anyone else run into this problem? I never had any of these problems with any of my other framelocks.

I surprisingly like the zt0450, its a lot smaller than I expected, especially compared to my zt0454. I put an eggshell texture with dark grey finish, dark acid stonewashed the clip and blade. When I was going the modding, i was surprised to see only one bearing track groove. overall I really like this knife, still a toss up with the 0808 though.

I ended up ordering one. At first I thought I'd hold off and wait for another knife I want, but it was in stock and the price is quite nice. Should be here within a week.

My 0450 came in today. I think I might have gotten the second to the last one at KSF! It’s beautiful and the workmanship is top notched!

It’s so light compared to my 0566. This will probably be my number one EDC!

Next to my 0566.

Mine is in Germany. Hopefully I'll get it tomorrow, but most likely it won't be here until next week.

Mine arrived today...man. So in love. :love-struck: If mine is any indication, they've tweaked the detent so it's solid but quite easy to overcome, resulting in sweet, no-finger-irritation flipping bliss.

Anyone know of any options for deep carry? I know the 0550/0560 clip does the job, but I'm a little bothered that it extends beyond the butt of the handle...I know, first world problems, but a legitimate question. And if you have one of those clips, are you feeling the same way?

I received one earlier this week, and while the detent was a bit stiff at first it has worn in. It's much easier to manipulate now with the clip on. However I tend to carry most of my knives without a clip, and in that regard the 0450 is difficult to deploy. Overall though the knife is a pleasure to use.
