2007 Forum Knife Pattern Vote

Thanks Gus, I'm more than happy to do it, really is great to be involved with such an excited group of collectors. Any advice you have I'm all ears!
Spoke with Joe Hufnagel today regarding my e-mail. He said that he and Wally Gardner have been so busy with the show circuit the last two weeks that they haven't been together long enough to discuss the knives. Wally got back in town over the weekend so he asked if we could give them a couple of days to go over some options for us. They're really happy that we've chosen them again for the new knife and it sounded like they don't want to rush into something haphazardly. Perhaps we can continue the lobbying for the next few days and see what they come up with, I don't think we'll be disappointed.

Eric,

I can not express how thankful I am you are willing to do this!
Folks this project is in excellent hands and all I wanted to do was express that Eric has 100% of my support.

Sorry about how my last post came across. I guess the "God willing" did not translate to what I thought it would. Just a "philosophy" in that I try to not take one minute of life for granted. I am fortunate to be in good health and at times able to to some good.

Outstanding news indeed! Thank you heartily ea42!

FWIW, I too am in favor of either a (1st) 3-5/8" stockman with punch or (2nd) canittler...

Thanks again.

Allow me to reiteriate. I would love to see a 3 7/8" stockman. ATS-34 blade steel. Stag or bone scales. The nice thing about MooreMaker (Queen made) is the very low profile of the knife scales, and the way the blades seat into the scales.

OK Folks, got a reply from Joe Hufnagel today regarding the knives. I've posted it verbatum below. I haven't replied yet since I figured you'd all want to have some input. By the way they do have a Canittler coming out for those interested. What do you want to do about a time frame? I was figuring everyone would want to get the order in as soon as possible, which looks like about mid-March, unless you want to bang something out quickly and get the order in right away. I personally don't see a problem with waiting three or four weeks to get it done the way everyone likes it, but I'm just one voice here. In the meantime, if there are any questions you'd like me to add in my reply, post them here this weekend and I'll reply Monday. Here's the e-mail:

Dear Eric
Thanks very much for contacting us and providing an opportunity to do your 2007 knife. It's also very gratifying to hear your feedback regarding the reception on the Ring Openers. We have some meetings scheduled with our handle suppliers over the next few weeks and we will have a better feel on some different material after that. It's also exciting to hear possible interest in a Canittler pattern as we currently have one in development that we will start shipping in April It will be a beautiful knife. If it works for you we would like to get back to you the beginning of March with more specific suggestions on handle material and patterns. In the interim could you please let us know when in the year you would ideally want delivery of the knives. Many thanks. Joe Hufnagel

If the voting is still open, put me down for a (or maybe 2) canittlers. I like stag handles. Not smart enough to comment on the steel.

Anybody like purple scales?

Oh, hush. You know darn well, Aardvark, that I just got me a purple Buck 112 and that KVC made me a cool sheath for it. May I assume that the 2nd canittler is for me??? Geez, I crack myself up! :D (falling off my chair in laughter!!!)

Personally, I don't care what the pattern or scales or steel is. I'm in for a knife. I have no doubt that everyone will vote for purple scales. :p

I would like to point out that the voting/polling is overwhelming for a stockman. Cannitlers are nice, but let's not hijack the majority!! That's not how democracy is supposed to work. Politics maybe, but not democracy!!

Three blade Stockman with stag or nice jigged bone works for me too.

Soooo... this is no longer a 'voting' thread? I beg your humble pardon.

I wasn't aware that the actual vote had taken place. Was it done in the poll format or just the manual method? From reading recent posts, it seems to me that members are still adding comments for what they would like to see on the knife. It probably will be a Stockman, but please tell us when we can no longer state preferences so that we don't waste our time and also possibly appear foolish. Although I am often thought a fool....

I'm in for a canittler. A real whittler would be great but I'll take a canittler over a stockman in a heartbeat.

My vote probably doesn't carry all that much weight as I am not a gold member or an old guy (just kidding - jeez!) but I just wanted to share that the mention of a Canittler excited and interested me. I will be down for a stockman or whatever you guys reach a consensus on, but as I do not own a Canittler and am interested in learning more about the pattern, I am more excited about the prospect of a new Canittler over a new Stockman.

Thanks Eric for contacting Canal Street.

Of course it's a voting thread, Aardvark! My remarks address ea42 who is negotiating with Canal street on our behalf. A good man!
I do believe in keeping our representatives on the straight and narrow (especially our government), and so find it prudent to voice my opinion early and often ;-)

Waynorth, thanks for clearing that up. The arrival of your post right after mine made me think you were talking to me. I should be used to these forums by now.

P.S. I hope you are not insulted, Eric! I appreciate your efforts, respect your opinion, and generally thank you for being here!!!

No insult taken Charlie, I know you're just expressing your undying devotion to the stockman lobby:D :D . I do have a question for everyone here though. I think we need to clear the air about the issue of whether everyone wants to wait a couple of weeks for any suggestions by Canal Street pattern wise before we vote (see e-mail in post 165 above), or whether we should go ahead and vote on a pattern from the top five sooner. I personally don't see any harm in waiting, but I think a little yes or no vote might get us all on the same page here, so what do you all suggest?

Eric

I've got no problem waiting however long it takes. I also have no problem with whatever pattern is eventually chosen.

-- Sam

I'm willing to wait. Canal Street may have some patterns available we haven't thought about.

I'll wait. I have no idea what all of the different patterns, scales, and blades are anyway. I just want one of the knives. :D
