2008 Knifemakers Christmas Gift Exchange! (2nd Annual)

Redrummd, that's just friggin awesom!!!

I'll have to look thru my folder collection and see if I have something that needs your touch!! [unless you end up sending me that one!!:D]

Redrummd, If you intended to intimidate us newbies with a dinosaur bone, damascus, folder then you have succeeded in a huge way.:(:(

Whoa man, that is one great knife!! WOW:eek:

I am thinking of something in a nice play dough....:D

This really sounds like alot of fun. I'm intimidated, but this will force me to get off my ass and make a knife, so im seriously considering. Could i request i be paired with another new first time knife maker?
although would me being in Canada disqualify me?

Mr. Munky, as another first timer, I would be proud to be paired up with you for this exchange. If that is okay with Mr. Scott?
Welcome aboard! Now get off your ass and make a knife. :D

Seriously, it is going to be a lot of fun, don't miss out on it.

Cliff

Mr. Munky- don't worry. We had people from as far away as Estonia last year.

Though I think the random draw is nice- first time, 200th, or whatever, it's a fun thing to do. I got a bit intimidated last year, but I think it ended up all right. I drew Estonia as it happened and sent a very Western knife off, since you probably won't find a lot of west coast patch type skinners with Osage scales in europe! It was maybe my 10th blade finished? something like that, and it ended up being a great thing to do.

What a great pocket knife! It's a great start!!

The drawing will be random. I for one am hoping to get a knife from an extreme newbie!! I put all the letters in a hat and have my wife draws them out and puts them in the first envelope on the top of the stack. She checks them to make sure that none of the letters going into the envelopes are the same person. She writes down the sender and receiver on a list and keeps it. She doesn't even show me, so I don't even know who is making a knife for me.

Just to let you all know, I've been swamped lately. I've checked and gotten all of your emails, just haven't had much time for knives. I've been in hotels all over the western U.S. on business and have been remodeling my kitchen when not on the road. I have a nice stretch of time home next week though.

You should hope you get one from me then hahahaha:D My first is just finished.....I learned a lot.

Hopefully I'll do better on my nextone though (although not pretty I do have to say that my first takes a mean edge and chops like a mutha.)

Two things:
First one: Who cares how pretty it is if it cuts?
Second one: If it chops, it has to be big. Try to make a small under 4" blade for the next one. The smaller it is, the more attention you can put into de details.

I'm in, I just signed up. I hesitated signing up, but this looks like a lot of fun.

It is fairly big. I'm planning for the next one to be smaller anyway. Going for something clean and functional this time.

Time is running out to make a decision. I must have an email from anyone wishing to be in. I need to receive it by midnight, August 31. We have reached my goal of 75 makers. Below is the list. If you're in, but don't see your name on the list, please email me as soon as possible at scottickesknives@gmail.com.
