2009 BladeForums Traditional Forum Knife updates

I am much obliged for all the blood sweat and tears for this project. I am still enjoying the wait for the knife. Gus needs to heal more than I need my knife right now. Goat milk has lots of protein, and protein will heal that ankle strap!

They should arrive Wednesday. I hope to start shipping on the following Monday. We'll see. Surgery is this coming Monday  so the Wednesday arrival will be something good to come home too, in addition to the dogs. Doc said I will be down the better part of a week.

I think these are going to be pretty cool.

I'm sure you've heard it approximately 1,000 times but feel I should say it just the same. Give yourself whatever time you need to heal up first please, we can definitely wait awhile longer.

WOW, that knife is just dripping with sweetness! Hats off to Gus and STeven, all the energy and heart that you guys put into the project is reflected in the end product!! Merry Christmas to both of you. All aloha, MK

Gus, I'm praying for your quick recovery. Feel better soon.

STeven, thanks again.

I haven't checked in on this thread in a while -- WOW these look sweet. I didn't realize we were getting a big wharnecliff blade in addition to the main clip. I've never seen that before, and I like!! The stag looks great too!

Gus, sorry to hear you're under the weather. I'll add my voice to everyone else who says, just take care of yourself. Luckily I have another pocket knife I can use until this one gets here. :D

And in case I didn't say so already, thanks for doing this AGAIN.

Jim

Geez! From that pic I wish I ordered 3 of them!

With the D2 blades in high satin finish, nickel silver liners and stamped bolsters, custom-never done before by Queen, long-pull Wharncliffe blade, and stag scales(which would add AT LEAST $30.00 to ANY knife), figure we are getting a $200.00 value knife for half that, and there will be no more of these.

Anyone who didn't get in on it who is interested in slipjoints is going to be suffering once these hit those who DID order...that pleases me greatly.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

My crystal ball was working that day, I ordered 2. :)

Those look amazing. I'm glad I got in on this one. I nearly missed it.
I hope you get well soon Gus.

One little thing... I'm one of the international crowd and I've been trying to get in touch with you, Gus, through emails, about paying/shipping etc, but I haven't received a reply. When you are up to it, could you please get in contact with me?

I'm glad I at least got one! And it should last me the rest of my life and maybe even into the next generation. I plan on using her, it will be a special one.

Gus, Steven you deserve a huge thank you for your efforts to bring this beauty to life. The gentleman who donated the Stag for the handles also deserves a huge thank you, too. The more I learn about pocket knives the more I appreciate the artistry and skill that goes in to making a traditional folder. I'm glad I had the chance to get one of these knives.

Thanks for all the support everyone. I kept our cash (all of it) in a separate account.
Last payment went to Queen yesterday.

You aren't kidding. I'm late to traditional knives and couldn't have afforded one when this started anyway. I will be one of those kicking myself.:(
Next time, I will be fighting to be first on the list though!
Great job guys.

BASTID, A big thank you for all involved in getting this project through. I help with fund raisers for a small local volunteer department and can’t even imagine the behind the scene work that this knife took dealing all over the globe. Thanks again everyone and Happy Holidays and a Great New Year.
What’s the 2010 knife?

I have to quote your post, Jim, to echo these sentiments.
Many thanks to Gus and Steven!
Also, I too am very pleasantly surprised to see both a full size clip and a full size wharncliffe. What a combo! This one is going straight into my pocket.

They arrived yesterday and are sitting in the entrance. Could not get that heavy box much past the front door, but they are inside and safe. I will start working on them next week. Have not unpacked them yet since I am supposed to stay in bed for another 6 days. I will try to get a few open and take some shots this weekend if all is well.

Surgery went well. Today is pain but am dealing with it.

Thanks to all for all the support. I should be able to start getting them out next week. If you are non-conus and on the list I will get in touch later for those I have not arranged payment with.

That's great news all around Gus!
Glad to hear that your surgery went well.
Now go heal up, the knives can wait.
Merry Christmas
