2009 Forum Knife - getting started on ideas.

What about a spearpoint barlow with a carbon steel blade? That would be the perfect knife for these tough economic times.

Something like this in 3 3/4 inch? :D

I'm in for '09 !

A single-bladed Barlow would be cool. Or a Mt. Man ?

I would even consider piloting this ship on this one.

Anything you guys decide on works for me. I have a soft spot for stag Doctor's knives, actually I like anything in stag!!!

If we could do a simple sawcut bone barlow, with a signature "BF" in the bolster, two full sized blades like an old IXL, say a clip and a spear, we'd have a heck of a knife.
It's sort of depression-era with an attitude!!
Traditionally Barlows were plentiful, but two large blades gave you bragging rights!
And this is a user, if desired. And the price should be right!
Toenails are spectacular, but day in and day out, not a pocketknife for carry.

Gus, I am ever grateful to you for stepping up, even if it is just to get the design organized.:thumbup:
You are the man!! (As I trash your idea:eek: . . .with apologies:()

I'm in like Flynn on that one!

I love the Sunfish pattern, but...

1) I've always been too cheap to spring for one in stag
2) Even with flat scales of bone, wood or celluloid, I find it too bulky to carry every day.

That said, keep it under $200 and I'm in.

I just picked up a Case/Bose Swayback Jack in Bermuda Green bone and have been carrying it for a few days. It is a really nice little knife, but it is about as small as I find comfortable to use. I'd be in for one of these if that is the way we went. Anything smaller, such as the mighty Peanut, and I'll pass. I keep trying, but I still just can't like the Peanut.

I am a fan of the larger two-blade jacks, though. I've also been carrying an old Queen #10 jack in Winterbottom bone. I'd love to see that in D-2 or 1095. Even better would be the same pattern from Schatt & Morgan in ATS-34. You can put me down for two of those. :D

i know that the backpocket has been very popular around here lately, and if this has been done before i am sorry, but how about a backpocket from someone? or does it need to be a design that is already in use? sorry if it does, dont want to waste anyones time.

And a prepaid order from me in a minute!

I would finally love to be able to get in on a forum knife for this place. I love it here.

I will say however that I am open to any pattern at all. I only have a couple slippies so trying anything is good for me.

Peanut, Wharncliffe Jack, Barlow, whatever......it's all good with me.

Again.

This knife will be a factory knife.

If anyone wishes to head up a custom knife as a group they are welcome to do so.
(I tried and am not willing to go any further on a custom. There just are not many makers out there including Tony or Ken E. or Ken C. that have the bandwidth to take on a run of 12 to 16 knives.)

As far as prices. Keep in mind we were able to get stag on a Canal Street ring opener sleeve board at a lower price that the bones were going "on the street". Whatever is chosen the price will be kept at around 100 give or take 20.

Thanks for doing this. It is really appreciated. Plus given this far of a heads up I can begin saving a little. I would really like to keep the price exactly where Bastid said, as I will not be able to afford more than that, especially in this particular economy. ;)

Thanks again for heading this up.

I wonder if somebody could post some pics with examples of each type of knife we're talking about here.

Does anyone have an example of each type and can put them all in a pic?

Make it a lot easier to pick and choose when you can see the things in the flesh, so to speak.

I'm in for the Sunfish or a Wildcat Driller... I ended up with an inexpensive Marbles Sunfish, actually two, but I love the design!!! Fits my hand very well and feels good in a coat pocket. I think if we were to do it I would have a nice little belt sheath made though. Just for an optional carry mode...

STAG SODBUSTER????

I looked, but it seems that a Sodbuster has not been mentioned... I'm new so maybe you have already done one in past years? But a Stag or Bone Sodbuster from Case or Queen would be the Cats Meoww!!! Just a thought....
:D:thumbup:

That would be one heck of a knife, and depending on the payment method(from Germany) and shipping(to Germany) I'd be in.

Thats be the perfect knife for me to try, given that I dont have a barlow, and never handled real sawcut bone.

I would also be interested in this barlow especially with a spear point.
