2009 Forum Knife - getting started on ideas.

I did not get in on last years knife. Really hope to get in on this one. But to be honest not sure if I could depending on price and finances. But that said, I do not like the sunfish at all. Peanut would be nice. But a Barlow would be nicer. One that I did not see mentioned that I think would be like what has been said is wanted, a Copperhead. I admit these are my favorite so far, followed by a Canoe. If we got a Copperhead I would do whatever it took to be able to get it.

My vote goes to a Schatt & Morgan 3 3/8" Barlow with a long pull with a swedged clip blade in ATS-34 with a ATS-34 pen in the back. Ebony scales, sans shield. I think this would come in well under $ 100.00

+1

GEC Makes a pretty decent Wharncliffe Barlowe. That'd be the direction I'd lean.

Although a Sunfish would be wayyyy cool.

Looks like the Barlow and Jack with wharnie are more popular than the sunfish. :D.

I know when I am whipped. ;).

Let's keep this going and see what other ideas float to the top and then we will start a voting thread.

Being one who dislikes blade etches, (at the same time, a club knife needs to be marked some way) I really like the engraved style of this years since it is a little more subtle than an etch and the case of getting a stamp or etch on the tang or bolster or shield.

If we could do a simple sawcut bone barlow, with a signature "BF" in the bolster, two full sized blades like an old IXL, say a clip and a spear, we'd have a heck of a knife.
It's sort of depression-era with an attitude!!
Traditionally Barlows were plentiful, but two large blades gave you bragging rights!
And this is a user, if desired. And the price should be right!

Ooooh! YEEEAAH!

That is something I have been wanting anyway, and as a BF knife, would be just that much cooler!

Out of curiousity, what has been done before?

I missed the 2006 version, but the last three were:

2006: A ring opener from Canal Street in A2 and Stag

2007: Canittler (Canoe/Whittler) from Canal Street in D2 and Mammoth Ivory

2008: Medium Stockman in 1095 and Stag

STAG SODBUSTER????

I looked, but it seems that a Sodbuster has not been mentioned... I'm new so maybe you have already done one in past years? But a Stag or Bone Sodbuster from Case or Queen would be the Cats Meoww!!! Just a thought....
:D:thumbup:

A good idea there:thumbup: Or you could have a very individual Sodbuster by having micarta scales and a special shield chosen by us.

Another option would be to have a Slimline Trapper single blade, again in a nice Natural micarta or Antique Ivory, carbon. Barehead style and being about 4.25 and slim this should satisfy both those who like a larger knife and those who favour a practical pocket carry knife that is not too heavy.

GEC could be sounded out as they are up and coming and might want to enhance their range, they make a very decent traditional in my experience.

A Gec sawcut bone barlow with a large clip point and spear blade with BF on the bolsters would be awesome.

I also received my 08 bladeforums knife this week. Really nice little folder. I've relageated it my coin pocket, and have been using it for the mail.

Going into the 09 selection process, I would prefer to see a larger knife, on the lines of a 3 7/8's or larger. For the most part my EDC's vary between the 3 7/8 size to 4 1/4".

I really like the idea of 3 7/8" barlow or jack, possibly outfitted with a warncliff stainless blades steel likes of which ATS-34 or 154.

I like the idea of a swayback or maybe the Warncliff jack, I also like Stag. !095 for steel.

sway back isnt bad but arent they normally kinda small? and i know alot of you like barlows, but man that just is...bleh. still, stag and carbon styeel is basically a must have :)

sounds good to me. But I'd have a hard time coming up with more than a bill.

To be honest a single blade would break the deal with me, but i am in a minority it seems; but I still vote a nice big Sunfish (it looks like the previous years have been smaller- maybe not the Canittler, but it does not look large.)

How about a knife similar to a 6292 Case Jack..
But do a twist on the blades and have one Clip blade and one Wharnie. :D

It's a good size (just under 4"), but still very pocketable....

Grand daddy barlow with a long carbon spear point blade and bone rough sawn scales.
