Just because a normal stockman's been done, it doesn't mean we can't look at some of the more exotic stockman interpretations (Or that really sweet cattleman with the small clip blade on it up there)!

I am just going to quote this pic from time to time :p :D

very nice, replace sheepsfoot with longer wharncliffe!

Edit: Oh crap, hundredth post! Now I have to do a giveaway, how about I give one of these away when they are ready? I think I will do that...

In all seriousness I would like to see a 3 3/4 - 4 1/8" stockman or whittler.

Three blades.

A spear blade like the 54's come with for the main blade

The secondary blades like the 57's

Main blade flat ground A2/O1 3/32 to almost a zero edge. Secondary blades thinner stock, same steel, same flat grind.

GEC can make it IMO. Oh, and no pink handles :)

Edit to add,

I'm on to you dude!!!! Nice try padding the stockman vote.

Don't mind me, this will be my official contribution. This is my first time involved with the forum knives.

Don't mean to mess with things. :)

I would pay for a high quality and USEFUL Scout knife in the spirit of the old Ulsters

Regarding usefulness, I would love to see a traditional Scout recontextualized to be useful in today's world with a blade replacement.

Replace the leather punch with folding scissors!

I camp. I camp a lot and in all 4 seasons. The leather punch made sense for campers in the 1930s when most straps were made of leather. For today's campers, straps are nylon webbing and field repairs means sewing. For this task, small but tough scissors are an essential part of any prepared backpacking kit.

I'd think for camping, a saw would be more useful than a scissors. You can cut threads for sewing with a sharp knife blade.

I know I mentioned a swayback already, but maybe a picture would be helpful.

How about one like this with white bone handles and a carbon steel blade? Please?

This offers a lot of potential: It's different from all previous Forum Knives, GEC can make a version of it on their 48 frame, it could be in their stainless for a change, and it's an elegant and useful knife:thumbup:

Regards, Will

I like this one

I love the way Ohta does a wharncliffe like the one here:

Do not link to non member vendor sites. I have downloaded the pic and am posting it from Photobucket. You could have done the same.

Yes, I often carry a saw, but I want at least a 5" blade, preferably 7". You can do a lot in terms of sewing, repair and 1st aid with a knife, but I find scissors to be so much more useful.

Would really love to see a camper with scissors instead of an awl.

I'd love to see this knife made for us. What a beautiful blade.

Well, I have thought long and hard about this.
This is such a difficult thing to narrow down ONE particular pattern that we want...because when you actually go through photos of knives and re-acquaint yourself with all the stunning older patterns out there!!!....WHEW...it is really hard!

Everytime Charlie puts up something...there is always a wave of fellow knife enthusiasts who agree with his notions, and there is good reason, Charlie has a LOT of knowledge, and knows what is and what isnt...
Our Blade forum knive would have to follow real Traditional lines... thats what we are - Traditional.

I have narrowed it down to 3 patterns,
1, Charlies Large Stockman, BUT!!!....it would HAVE to have to same shaped blades as to that lovely knife Charlie has graced our vision with-man...just how does this man manage to get his hands on these stunning, beautiful knives? with the large Swedges - otherwise no thank you.

2, Jake ( supratentorial) has featured lately a two bladed Sowbelly, now if we can get a slim, single-springed version....bring it on.
3, Muskrat, now if we did this, it would have to be peach seed jigged bone, Threaded Bolsters, an Improved version of the Muskrat, and with heavy Swedges running off the top of the blades!

Too many beauties to choose from.
My only input really would be natural handle material (Rams horn sounds good).
I like GEC knives.
Anything Charlie posts is good.Any other style, size etc is fine by me.

Pretty useless post. Sorry.

Not at all. Glad to see you here, my friend.

I'm doing well thanks for asking Duncan. How about yourself?

I don't know how I misssed that. I guess it didn't catch my eye. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I'm sticking with the blade selection I said above :)

In the end whatever will be will be :)
