Lets get back on topic and let these guys bring it into whine and cheese!

I wonder how the stonewashed blade will look like? Anybody know of any examples from previous Kershaw products?

Hmmmm....... BF Skyline, or Veff serrations on my Severtech? Only have play money for one. Decisions.. decisions.......

I personally would go with the Skyline. It goes toward a great cause, and it is going to hold much more monetary, practical, and sentimental value than the serrations.

I have several, and that pic on the first page is a perfect representation of what Kershaw stonewashed looks like, it is very purty, even, and is "fine grained" is the best way I put it. I have a Sebenza, and they are also stone washed (mostly), and they look pretty much the same side by side, so Kershaw must obviously use a quality process. I have seen half assed stone washed blades (scratces on the blade, etc.), and none of my Kershaw's have that. So it will be purty :).

Regarding posts expressing opinions on how this is being run, the advice given to me was to message a mod vs. post here. I haven't been here long, but I HAVE been here long enough to have msg'ed a couple of mods about different things, and they are VERY responsive and great to interact with. So to keep the thread on topic, if you wanna give your opinion on how they should run things, better to PM or email.

That is a no brainer to me, Skyline! You can get those serrations whenever you get $ again (or you may even decide later that you really didn't want them and have saved a blade from a irreversible process). The Skyline on the other hand is a limited time thing. You preorder and pay uninflated retail(and benefit the forum as mentioned above), everyone gets closer to $25 memberships, AND you have no regrets for missing out on a limited run, sweet blade .

Why don't you tell everyone here how often we all need an update....once an hour, once a day, week?

Personally, I don't like the tone of your post. I think you're a dick for making it. To even use the word "swindle" as a possible inference derived from this is insulting to me as a member of this community that Spark provides to everyone here. He isn't leaving anyone hanging. The knife isn't here yet. It's that simple. When it arrives, he'll start mailing them out.

I am sorry you think I am anything, I don't know you so really don't care. You are not holding onto my money, so again I really don't care what you think of me. I did not call anyone names nor imply anything. If you don't have an actual answer then don't answer for the person who does. And to copy his reply is kind of lame too. He already said they haven't come in yet, I take him at his word. It's just that that was the first word we have heard from him in a long time!!! I don't know what your definition of leaving someone hanging is but weeks with out telling anyone anything when many many people are asking what is happening is kind of exactly that.

I fully appreciate your defending him and your loyalty I really do. It's good to see someone who so clearly cares about the community and Spark, but you have to realize I did not ask anything you would not want to know as well. I said I am fully prepared to wait and I will whether if you think I am a Dick or not. Your impression of me for being honest and asking a question makes no difference to me whatsoever and I don't have any feelings so don't go thinking you hurt mine.

When money is involved it is purely business. If I owed this many people a friggin candy bar, I would feel the duty to keep them updated, not ignore them as it then appeared to be the case. Why did it take a number of people getting upset and grumbling to get an update???? Guarantee you if you walked into a car dealer and bought a car, the time passed and you still heard nothing back, someone out there would think you were a dick for asking what was going on...

He is entitled to his opinion, I see no reason to personally attack him as you just did. To be fair, he does not know Spark (or whoever for that matter, names make no difference) from the guy next door. He didn't post anything negative or personal, he posted his feelings and his opinion. I certainly see where he is coming from, the updates are nice. Even a simple " still working on it haven't forgotten about you guys" was all it took, and that was what was done. No harm no foul

I do not feel his post was unreasonable, or derogatory. If you do not agree with what was posted you do not need to come out and say the guy is being a dick. Spark did a nice thing for updating, updates are nice they keep people happy. No one is complaining about the fact that knife is taking longer than expected, so your last sentence is pretty much pointless.

For the record I put my order in the first week this was available, I am perfectly fine with waiting, and I do in fact enjoy the updates. So, in your eyes I may be a dick, but honestly I couldn't care less what I look like in your eyes, and I doubt the member you publicly flamed does either.

edit: By the way the original poster answered your first question, he said a 30 second update "weekly-ish" would make a lot of people happy, and I tend to agree. Me and my "dick-ish" ways coming out again.

Welcome to my club it appears. Thank you for understanding the intent of my post. I guess us Dicks are smarter than we look... It seems to me that if you squeak then you get called names by people who have no direct and attacked but everything you said is exactly what many of us feel. Anyhow, thank you, I never meant to ruffle any feathers but I guess some people are very sensitive... Even tho if they had money outstanding by a person they did not know they would be kinda questioning it too. If someone I knew for years had done this I would have personally told them they were not doing the right thing, not attack the people who are not responsible...

Anyhow, I will go back to my corner and sit there waiting for the knife.

where are all the cool mid manufacture photos like they got for the 777 ( don't really expect them , in fact no picture taking just more machining! etc. lol ) But anyhow i too am super intrigued by that ffg. nice job on the photo shop btw. And as far as all the expressed anxiety i think many of us have had that thought but it just seemed prudent not to hassle the guy who will sometime soon have the option to hurry up and ship these knives or take his time. restraint of pen and tongue and what not.

I wasn't going to jump into the fray but do allow me to say this. You are a new member to this community and I can can understand why you would be apprehensive and worried about spending $90 on a knife and not hear any news pertaining to the knife thereafter for weeks. However, RWS and I, being older members have absolute faith in Spark and this forum that he runs. I speak for myself when I say that I have more confidence purchasing items from this forum than other websites. While I agree that the name-calling was uncalled for, you must understand that us older members feel a certain sense of loyalty and belonging to this forum. As such, using such terms as "swindled" and putting on a general tone of animosity will be met with defensiveness and possibly hostility by other members of the forum that will not only vouch for Spark but for the majority of this community as well. Please try and understand this and please rest assured that you will get the knife you paid for. It's just taking a little longer than originally expected which happens with such projects which, I imagine, are real pain to organize and execute; which is why some members, myself included, feel that you should be more appreciative of Sparks efforts.

I'm not one to force or even demand anything of you or RWS but I do believe that RWS owes you an apology for calling you names and that you owe Spark an apology for suggesting he "swindled" each of us out of $90.

As I sat and re-read my post I could not see how you (or anyone) interpreted my use of a word implied I suggested he in fact did that to us. However, it does not matter how I read the post, it is how it is perceived by others. For that I do apologize, my intent was not to suggest he or anyone was stealing or swindling. It was merely to suggest how IT could be perceived as such by others, not me.. My intent was not to accuse but to explain how the lack of communication could be seen as worrisome. You make a very good point that new members could be apprehensive. Fortunately the money is meaningless to me. I don't need the money, for others here it seems they have saved hard earned money to make this purchase and my feeling is they should be kept better informed.

As I stated, I will sit back and wait, I have no problem at all. As I told RWS, I really am comforted by his and now your support of Spark. You are right, I don't know any of you, but if your reactions are anything to to go by then I am not worried.

Thank you for your informative input. I can say I have had 2 very positive purchases from members on here that went much better than some I have also had on other sites, so I know there are some very decent people on here.

As for RWS, he has his opinion and I fully respect that. I thought I was being tactful in my post, he thinks he was being tactful in his. I have no problem with him either way.

I see that I've misinterpreted your post and for that apologize. However my sentiments remain unchanged for anyone that is worried about the lack of updates; you will get your knife. :)

Functionally speaking I like the second one better! Just a little bit of flat there an the back to clamp to an angle sharpening system assuring you get the exact same angle and results on every touch up. If I were going to EDC this, that would matter, but I am cool with FFG since I am not :). I definitely like the edge/grind on the second one. P.S., for whoever (you?) did that PS work, NICE!!!!

Manufacturing hasn't started yet (as of a couple of days ago), but once they start cranking them, they will crank em out fast. KAI makes a CRAPLOAD of production "value" knives(aka ZT and blades like 777 and Tilt don't count), and can crank them out by the thousands in days... so by the time someone had time to post mid manufacture pics, it would probably already be in your mailbox :).

I love that grind! But if I recall correctly another Kershaw knife, the Diskin Hunter, was originally supposed to have a similar curved grind line, but was changed in production, I think. So I'm not getting my hopes up too much for that.
