2012 HTM Forum Gunhammer: *Commitment/Sign-up* thread

As long as they can match the colors I'm fine with that, but if they can't match them I think we should think about a vote for something they can do. Hopefully they match them:thumbup:

That's a good suggestion. I'm confident that with enough time they'll be able to get the color close to what we want, but opening it up to input if that ends up not working out would be a good way to go.

I'm fine with switching it up to the milspec level III treatment in black or gray or whatever. It's silly to hold up a knife for an inferior grade of a shade of green.

Obviously I'm paid and in, so I will stick it out; I just think it's a bit silly and girly to be fussing about the handle color so much--especially when it's causing problems.

Merry Xmas! :)

i agree, i am more than willing to forgo the green or to add time to the build to upgrade to level III anodization

in fact, i really dont care what the handle color is as long as we end up with the highest quality level possible....hence the choice of S90V steel

I would be ok with letting Mr. Ralph pick the color - let him do for us what he wants us to have.

That would make the knife special and give it his personal touch. Plus it makes it easy on him.

best

Color is important to be sure, but...the heart and soul of this is the S90V. So again I ask, who did the heat treatment, and what did the HRC come in at?
Thanks...

Since I'm a late comer I'm fine with whatever the group decides. Green, gray, black, all good. I really like mqqn's suggestion.

I'm ok with him picking the color but I would prefer for it to be level III rather than level II if we are giving up the green color

I'm game with a grey level 3, actually I would prefer that:thumbup: Why would we want something not as durable anyway, its about the steel not the color, or at least thats how it is for me. Black or grey all the way baby:D

I'm game with letting Darrel pick the color as well but can he pick a level 3 please :D d as long as its not the flat dark earth copper color:D

Looking back on the polls, the finals were Green, Blue and Gray.

Green won with Gray in 2nd and Blue in 3rd.

I would still like to stick out for the green just for the uniqueness. while s90v is awesome, explaining to someone that it's a special knife because of the color and steel is a lot easier than just the steel.

While I do like the green if it does not work how bouts something like that shark grey like they did on the lamberts? no?

EDIT: took another look at the Shark Grey and really not that unique of a color....

Yeah, not sure if it's just the picture or a different anodizing batch with the Lambert, but I much prefer the gray color on the Gunhammer (see photo below). It's a lighter gray that's a lot more unique and, IMHO, more deserving of the moniker "Shark Gray".

I have to agree with you there. I really like that grey very light.

Plus, a nice thing about the handles being anodized aluminum instead of, say, G-10, is that we can get light gray (or, on a future forum knife, another light color) without having to worry about it accumulating dirt/grime and being a pain in the arse to clean.
