I'd like suggest a nice worm groove bone like the stuff from Queen or, more recently, the "copperhead jig bone" from GEC.

Main point:
I'd like to see something with rams horn scales for 2012.

Other points:
I was disappointed by the liner gaps in the 2010 BF moose.
I am very pleased by the complete lack of liner gaps in my 2011 BF knife.
I am, unfortunately, disappointed by the performance of the caplifter on my 2011 BF knife, though it still works.

Just throwing some info out there. I'm a big GEC fan, but I've seen some nice Canal St. rams horn pics. I don't own any rams horn, but I'd like to fix that...

I guess some of you may laugh but how about considering a good ole, down to earth, Sod Buster. The one picuted is by Case with CV blade steel but one by Queen with D2 wouldn't be shabby at all.

I'd love to do a sodbuster with stag or something.

we've suggested every pattern & every handle material ever .
Isn't it time we did one of those survey things to get an idea of what really holds the sway?
oh and if theres anything I can do to help from here on the other side of the planet please let me know.
cheers.
ps i don't care what we make i will get one anyway-even if its a sassenfrassen toefish grrssn.(sound of Muttlee snickering).

I'm not keen on the giant blade sunfish/rope knife patterns. I'd like to see something like the Conducter pattern that's out, or maybe a whittler. A small, pen knife sized pattern with dark brown bone the likes of which I see on antique knives. Carbon or D2 would be nice. Acrylic would be okay too, but I'd like to see something that takes advantage of the material, like those crazy swirls you see sometimes, in bright colors preferably.

If we did do a sunfish/rope knife it would be fun if it had a big clip blade. Acrylic, pearl, or abalone scales would be neat on such a knife because of the wide handles.

I would also love to see rams horn scales considered for 2012... the stuff can really be beautiful but it might push our costs up.

ON EDIT: Thanks to all who've posted pictures of the different knife patterns that you are suggesting... some of us are not all that familiar with the many, many traditional knives and it sure is a big help to see an example pic of what you're talking about.

I'd like to see something like a Yukon folding hunter, or a big toothpick or a navaja-style knife.

While it doesn't seem to be the most popular pattern around here, I'd love to see a canoe pattern of some sort....preferably made by GEC. Swedges and long pulls, as well as threaded and slanted bolsters. Something in the vein of the S&M canoe, only in 1095 steel, and with GECs fit and finish. Maybe something besides a pen blade for the secondary.

Posted this before reading the above post...lol.

Gene, now that you are working on this with Photoshop (or whatever other program you use..) :) try a wharncliffe as secondary blade on that canoe...you might find more people by your side..

Ah! I'm a canoe fan myself and I like the idea of a canoe forum knife. A Canal Street canoe with that GEC copperhead bone would certainly be nice. I think the blade shape on CSC's cannitler is absolutely the best I've seen on any spear point knife. Of course I have to say that red stag cow bone is pretty sweet too.

The bird dropping is not recommended.

I like the canoe, though I wouldn't mess around with a what cliff blade as a secondary. Sheepsfoot maybe, but I'd rather leave it alone, or even omit the second blade altogether. I'd still like a little more color in the handles too.

while i like the wharnie blades, it hinges on whether it looks "right" with the pattern, personally i think throwing a wharnie blade in any old pattern just looks odd... to each his own! maybe a sheepsfoot instead?? Anybody ever done a 2 bladed canoe with 2 full size masters?
when we start getting things narrowed down i'll be doing composite variations, until then you all are wholly at the mercy of my whaler addled brain!

Anybody ever done a 2 bladed canoe with 2 full size masters?

If it were kept to a single spring they would have to be pretty thin.
If two springs, we could call it the "Moose Canoe"

Definitely Clip and Spear/Spey though. No full size Wharncliffe PLEASE.

Point of information:

The 2007 Forum knife was a Canittler (Canoe with 3 blades), done for us by Canal Street Cutlery. It has a spear point, pen and sheep foot blade. A very nice knife. I believe there were only 57 of that one made.

2007 canittler ah man i forgot about the that one!
Well to make myself feel better heres the whaler! im open to handle materials:D
