2014 Forum Knife

Thank goodness for Charlie eh?

My tuppence worth and for no other reason than personal preference, I'd rather not have a Sodbuster, but if that's what we get then I'll buy one because I approve of the venture. I'm game for just about any other slipjoint though.

Paul :)

Stag on a sodbuster is like socks on a rooster.

Exactly!

This is just Fantastic news that Charlie is at the Helm, Good to have Dave on board as well - this makes for a good knife upcoming....

2014 knife....I am not too sure the model I want, I have some VERY nice knives coming, and to me these will fill the gap for some time, but in my way of thinking and taste of knives I would like the knife to be a single bladed knife, what about a Teardrop - but this time lets NOT have a half stop for a change - what say you?

Blade style? I cannot decide between...Clip-Point with a Tear drop? Spear? or whos to say you cannot have a awesome Sheepsfoot with a massive Swedge going on in a Teardrop frame?

But to me a Tear drop in John Lloyds Stag - be it whatever shaped blade - but please smack a big deep Swedge on top of the pile of the wish list!

Duncan, a stag teardrop with a zulu spear blade would be awesomely terrific. Think Wharncliffe, but with a slight belly, makes a great all-around user. And as both GEC and Queen make a teardrop, we could get two bids from two different companies.

I still would prefer a two-blade with clip and sheepfoot, but the zulu does a good job of approximating the point, belly and precision cutting of the two in one.

But I am going to wait and see what develops in terms of any polls. Charlie has experience with estimating total cost more than likely even at the early stages of design. Sodbusters don't excite me generally if anyone cares.

Having Charlie onboard directing the project, it's only right that the GEC pattern #15 be considered in the running. I think having a small(er) frame knife and established pattern would contribute to meeting the sub-$100 price target. And it'd be a fitting tribute to Charlie! :D In any event, I can't wait to see what develops going forward....very excited for this one.

My thoughts as well. Especially considering we have not seen a 15 in stag. The current spear in an EO and stag might have me howling at the moon if it came to be. :D

A Stag #15 with a long pull spear would be awesome! Maybe even with an easy open notch.

That's my vote if I get one.

I'm new so I don't know what's been done already in year's past. But I would sure love a stag variation of a Lanny's Clip.

I hope the manufacture of the 2014 Blade Forums Knife is not limited to GEC (Bill Howard) right off the bat.
This would be a great opportunity for Queen (Ken Daniels), if asked, to step in and "Take the Pearl" so-to-speak away from GEC, especially, if the pattern chosen is a standard pattern for Queen (i.e., Country Cousin, Mountain Man, etc.).

I'm looking forward to a "Pattern Poll". Hopefully, it'll come up soon and hopefully, no pattern of a previous years Blade Forums knife will be considered for the Blade Forums 2014 knife.

I cannot read 17 pages of this thread of what everybody wants
I will be happy to wait for the Pattern Poll to get the precise of the discussion

I would be interested in a Queen manufactured knife
Give Ken Daniels a chance to so show what he has got...

EDC Forums 2014 knife was a moonglow stockman from Queen. Reading through the threads fit and finish/quality control was a pretty big disappointment from several members who had to return their knives for repairs. Just passing along what I read...

To be polite toward Mr. Lloyd, and to fill a gap in Traditional Bladeforums knife of the year I suggest a smaller pattern in a Peanut/Pemberton/pen shape, one belly one straight blade, or even better for me, one punch blade on a small knife.

But a peanut/Pemberton Bladeforums knife would be great, and with under $100 sought we could maximize options with what is chosen. Ultimately I would love to see a wharncliffe peanut/pen with punch, but realistically a clip and coping peanut in stag and maybe stainless would be great!

Ultimately I'm sure I will like the direction we will take and look forward to the upcoming selection process!!
