2014 Forum Knife

I would like to see a 3.5" (or less) closed length knife. Looking at the patterns that have been used, I'm thinking about an equal end, sway back, dog leg, some variation of a copperhead........ or how about a gunstock pattern?!?!?!?!

Single blade gunstock in stag at around 3.5 inches?

You know, I voted for the sodbuster in 2013. It was the second most voted pattern behind the Congress Jack. Congress Jack ran away with the votes though. I think I'd like to see something different...... Now, if you took a sodbuster, put a bolster on it, some stag..... I could get behind that, but then it wouldn't really be a sodbuster anymore.

I'll make a pattern suggestion fwiw

White Owl
Spear/Pen or
Spear/Coping or
Clip/Coping
Stag handles
no shield
Nickle bolsters
1095 or O1 blades/spring

I would like to see GEC used again because I know they build quality, and Charlie is a known commodity to them.
Queen and Canal Street's F&F inconsistency scare me and Case just isn't a nice enough knife considering the quality and price range we have become accustom to.

As for pattern polling, I hope we don't settle on a pattern until the winner has more than 50% of the vote.
Last year's Congress Jack only got 114 out of 373 votes, and it showed in the much lower demand compared to the previous years.

My 2 cents worth;

I'd like to see a "well curved", traditional bladed Large Saddlehorn, a Swayback Jack or for something completely different, how about a Seahorse pattern?.

First, the Large Saddlehorn (a Small Saddlehorn would also work);

The first picture shows what I mean by "well curved". I'd be fine with just one bolster as shown (prefer it actually). This knife has what I consider to be the traditional blade set up.

The second Pic would be MY IDEAL blade configuration though the handle isn't as "curvy" as I'd like (yea, I like my Wharncliffes!)

The third picture is a Swayback Jack (single bolster would be my choice rather than the two shown).

The fourth is the Seahorse.

(I'm in for at least one BF Traditional no matter what we end up with (two if it really strikes my fancy).

I could definitely get behind the Saddlehorn. Not a common pattern and and a nice showcase for the stag. Larger single blade (clip)would be my first choice, and might help keep the price in range.

I like the idea of spear/coping, sheepsfoot/pen, spear/punch or sheepsfoot/punch.
TL 29 would be cool as well - but there was a recent SFO and GEC offering in that so it might be better to wait a year before going that route.

mega kudos to John Lloyd for his generous offer & to Charlie for stepping up to the plate despite his earlier stated misgivings.

Something a little out of the ordinary would be ideal; but the thought of a #68 Whiteowl with a spear point is very appealing.

I would be curious to as how we could make it different from the previous offerings. I just ordered a stag spear point. ;)

It sure would look nice though :)

I have not WADED through this entire thread BUT throwing MY desire in the mix :D hows about a GOOD OLE Hawbaker Muskrat!! or single spring MUskRaTwith double California clips!! NOW either of these are OLD Skool DELUXe!! ;)

Great idea; but, wouldn't it be a little close to the NorthWoods Madison Barlow?

Only if you make it the same size. Single bolster, preferably extended like in a Barlow, stamped bolster with either BF Blade Forum), or CC (Chalie's Choice) and a cut swedged blade.

This would be amazing! I love my 76 Outlaw Jacks but a single spring and blade version with stag would be stunning! :)

I want to correct my previous post and add the #76 frame to the pot.
I would leave the #15 frame aside (not because I don't like it, but because it's been exploited quite much already) and focus on the remaining middle sized frames (#66, #68 and #76) for a single bladed slipjoint.
Or a previously unreleased two bladed combo (spear/pen or sheepsfoot/pen #68, clip/coping #66, and so on... ;)
