2014 Forum Knife

A custom stag Barlow as pictured above would open my wallet. Stainless Steel would be a nice change too.

We've already done a Stag Barlow in 2009 double stamped Queen/Schatt Morgan with donated stag. I don't see them redoing a pattern we've done previously but I could be wrong. I think it would be hard to top the 2009 knife for under $150 putting it right out of the price point for most.

Just to tease you a little though here's my 2009 Queen/Schatt Morgan Barlow...

A Gunstock would be nice! It's one of the few patterns I don't own (yet) and it would be great if my first one was the forum knife.

Let's make it more affordable, so I say a Case Sodbuster with black ebony scales, retaining the large bird's eye pivot, with a simple shield on both sides, one side engraved Blade Forum, the other side engraved 2014. I'll put my order in now for three. Thanks for listening.:)
Personally I say a Case Sodbuster with an actual point on it. And lets add in some blue jigged bone that matches the site with a bladeforums shield.

I second Bob6794. Whatever it is, it should definitely be blue imho. Can't wait 'til the 2014 bf knife comes out. I am going to try and snag one.

I'm still suggesting a small peanut/Pemberton type with a punch. Small will keep costs mitigated and be polite to the generous Mr. Lloyd. We haven't had a small knife of its kind, and most people here love a small knife (look up Pemberton or peanut threads!). Until carried you don't understand how useful the punch is on a small knife, and as far as unique this one is the only of its kind I have ever seen. Back to regular pattern discussion now and I'll drop my agenda!

A bottle opener/screw driver and leather punch are very useful to have on a knife. Couple it to a large spear and smaller coping blade and it would be perfect.

Don't know if this has been mentioned. How about a single blade gunstock?

I have two gunstock patterns, one small and one big, and on each I think "wow, this is an awesome knife, but it would be better as a single blade"

ooh, i like that small jack with a punch! i just recently discovered how awesome an inline punch can be.

I think a blue sodbuster with bolsters would be stunning.

Sodbuster Jr. with a swedged spear point blade (similar to what's on the Case/Bose Zulu). How about blue linen micarta? I assume that's possible since they made green. Brown canvas micarta would be great as well.

/\ hey that's pretty cool!

If I can't get the forum on board I guess I'll just have to start making Slipjoints!! :) My ideas are rarely the choice of the majority, but I think this type of pattern has undeveloped possibilities.

EDC Forums 2014 knife was a moonglow stockman from Queen. Reading through the threads fit and finish/quality control was a pretty big disappointment from several members who had to return their knives for repairs. Just passing along what I read...

I just got done reading the thread over at EDC forums about this knife. Wow... just wow  I'm really surprised by how these turned out. The QC seems almost nonexistent on some of them. How did those knives ever leave the factory with those problems?

Please have GEC make the next bladeforums knife. :beg:

I'm lovin' the numerous requests for a soddy with bolsters, a pointy spear like blade, cut swedge, etc.:thumbup::thumbup:

P.S. If the sodbuster becomes the chosen one, and bolsters are not an option, then make sure you retain the bird's eye pivot.

Some of the complaints there are legit, but honestly some of them (like blade angle) are just because those guys aren't familiar with traditional pocket knives.

I think that the use of GEC's swayback (Viper) with a Wharncliffe blade would be good. Include an interesting natural horn scale on it and I would certainly buy 2 myself.

Hey Mr. Charlie, have you already decided what the mystery pattern will be for the makers consideration?

If not can you start to steer this ship in the direction of some land? Maybe one or two poles for blade shapes or something?

While I look forward to the results of whats going on this year. Its no where near as involved or fun as last year here in the design phase.

Last year I wanted the knife but ultimatley the price was just not right. Thats about the only negative I took out of last years process. Guess myself and possibly others would still like to have a voting say in particulars as it may. Just throwing out my opinion. Not meant in any way as slander. Just miss the fun and excitememnt that was had last year.
