The top knife was the first version before they changed the shield. It looks like there are going to be liners.

Guys, I just talked to Wally at Canal Street Cutlery and got the uptown-lowdown on the 2015 BF knife.

Everything is progressing nicely; steel is ordered for blades and springs, tang stamp just arrived, scale material is in, and small parts are coming together. If everything goes as scheduled, we should start seeing the knives by the end of THIS MONTH! That's right! The end of August is when I should receive them, and I'll start shipping them out immediately, but it will take me a few days. The knives should be in your hands on or about September 1, 2015.

Wow, that is much faster than I expected. I was thinking that it would take long enough for me to kind of forget that I was waiting so that it would feel like I got a surprise knife!

With this kind of timing I could actually have the knife before I start teaching, that's awesome!
