Got one... Sweet!!!
The BladeForums.com 2024 Traditional Knife is ready to order! See this thread for details:
https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/bladeforums-2024-traditional-knife.2003187/
Price is $300 $250 ea (shipped within CONUS). If you live outside the US, I will contact you after your order for extra shipping charges.
Order here: https://www.bladeforums.com/help/2024-traditional/ - Order as many as you like, we have plenty.
So, what is the manufacturing status? They should well along if delivery is going to be by the end of this month.
If I could just interject a note from the trenches: That seems mighty optimistic, I'd look more toward mid to end of September. Blades have to be cut, nail marked and stamped, then sent out for heat treat which alone could take up to two weeks if they're backed up. Once we get them back we still have to grind them, and that's just the blades. Since we're already nearing the second week of August I'd say the latter part of September is a safer bet. I'll keep you updated with some WIP pics once things get rolling.

I'm sure they're progressing, but this last quote from Eric puts a more realistic time frame somewhat later:

That's what I like about a prepayment. It's payed for, I don't have to worry about it, and after a long wait, it's like a gift from my younger self.
(We are all time travelers, but we travel in only one direction)
The Traditional Forum knife is not a money making venture for any of the forum dealers or other forum members involved. For that reason the price is due at the time of order. It just wouldn't be right to expose those that do this for the community to financial risk, although there is some inherent in any enterprise. Hopefully the pre-payment helps minimize that.
I like the way you think. That's what I like about a prepayment. It's payed for, I don't have to worry about it, and after a long wait, it's like a gift from my younger self.
I would get a second if it were within my means (maybe at the end of the month, if they are still there). It makes economic sense, keep the one with the wood that you like best, and you can sell the second one, the value only increases once they are no longer available on the primary market.
Have you ever tried to find the one from a few years back with the cap lifter on the EO bullet end jack? Have only seen them on the auction site at $300+. Love that knife, but never can find one (or any 85) reasonably priced.I've seen forum knives that other members had bought multiples of and sold many years later to members who had missed out and didn't get one. I can't recall any being sold at a profit, in fact many members also gifted or held giveaways with their extra knives in which case they took a loss.
Financially only because they gained so much more in the way of life long friendships they made as a result or just the personal satisfaction they garnered by their generosity. I don't think the forum knife was ever in 10 years about the money, it's about community and the love of knives, a labor of love as it were. I'm not saying buying more than one with the intention to make money on the secondary is a bad idea. I'm just saying in 10 years I personally have not seen it happen.
I bought one, I'll never sell it I'll just as it to the other nine and my regular carry knives...buy em up folks these are gonna be gorgeous.
I have bought multiples for the last few years ( the cap opener one was the exception and, well, it got stolen out of my mailbox anyway) I have given my extras away each time (I may well keep my second this year). I actually buy extras just for that purpose.
