I just got off the phone with Wally Gardiner at Canal St. , and there is an issue with the shield that is delaying the process. Because the shield is to be pinned, they can't start assembly without them. I won't get into the details except to say that he is working on it.
Meanwhile, Wally tells me the tang stamp die should arrive this week, so that will enable him to begin the blade grinding and tempering once it arrives at the factory.
Just so everyone understands, all the pieces must be completed and 'in house' before any assembly can begin. So there you have it folks, the ups and downs of manufacturing a custom order.
I think I can speak for all of us when I say, "Thanks Wally, for accommodating us 'knife-nuts', we all appreciate the effort involved!" :thumbup::thumbup:
