2015 BLADEFORUMS Club Knife - SHIPPED!!

Thank you Jake! You are spot on as to the reasons why the shield was 'substituted'.

We weren't able to use the shield originally voted on, as it was an 'archived' item that is no longer available and we were unable to procure a new source, so the closest shield was the 'Schrade' model chosen. Yeah, we could have had another poll, but that takes time and our knife is NOT the only project Canal Street has in the works. In order to make this happen in a reasonable time frame (like this year), a command decision needed to be made.

If anyone is unhappy with the substituted shield, I'm happy to cancel your order and refund your payment, but I think the decision is the correct one to go with. Personally, I like the substituted shield better than the archived model.

One thought: Would it be out of bounds to inquire if included within the Club Knife tube, someone would undertake the mission to put into print a brief history/development of this knife? The Forum voting each step of the way culminating with the unforeseen changing of the shield. Wow, what a knife developmental process!
I think the whole process in formulation makes this knife very special. Special enough, in my view, that to pass this specialness on to family whom have no knowledge of the history, may doom this Forum Knife for a lonely place in a dark musty drawer someplace with waning or no interest.

Greg, would you like to volunteer to do this for us?

Greg, would you like to volunteer to do this for us?

Everybody volunteers in the beginning, now is the perfect opportunity to get involved and be able to say you contributed. If someone jumps on this it would have to be fast to not impact estimated shop times.

I think it's a great idea...

Im trying soo hard not to order a second one... These beauties are going to be one-of-kind for sure!

Real nice looking knife, hopefully they last another couple of weeks so I can cough up the $88. The wood accented by the shield and pivots but without bolsters is a real unique look.

Wow. Cool. It would be really neat to have a history pamphlet along with the knife!

I wasn't thinking so much a pamphlet as I was a scroll. Basics of knife conception in a form that could be rolled up into the tube (I'm supposing "tube"). Simple with no misinformation.

I really like the idea that was made to throw a different wood on the last 50 to make them a "special" special edition. I'd definitely order another in a heartbeat. The Ebony suggestion was nice, but I'd also like a light colored burl/curly wood of some sort. It sounds like a good portion of those already sold went in multiples (one to use and something to save or resell). The limited quantity of something different in the run would probably sell out in minutes to those already on the books.

Just-a-thinkin' out loud.

Are you going to print them up? We need 300+ folded/rolled and ready for the individual boxes.

I think it would be cool to also list the past knives and years made to show consistency and diversity. Maybe on the back of the "History Scroll"? It may even encourage those of us that came into this scene later to go hunt down previous editions for collection purposes. And maybe boost the aftermarket value of older models? Crap, can you tell I'm a hoarder, I mean accumulator, I mean Collector. ;)

The history has been listed many times, to include it would take away from the knife chosen this year and there's still an issue of printing, rolling and tube stuffing an easier solution I'd a printable file that we could all print or ourselves and fill up and include it in the paper work and packaging. If anyone chooses they can print the past knives and their quantities on the back.

I like the idea of just going ahead without complicating the current teams efforts on this year's knife. Anyone who wants totals IIRC somewhere in this thread is a pic of all the past knives and total production #s. If you can't find it and really want to know message me and I'll tell you what I know about the past knives.

Why not just post the historic "scroll" on the forum so folks who want it can print or save it for retention? That may be more practical than printing 300 copies and mailing to CSC or others for box stuffing.

I'm looking forward to the Schrade shield, I like the look of it better than the original choice (original vote was for long bomb), and it has a great historical pedigree.

If it delays the knife I say forget about the paper. I want the knife, not a piece of paper.

I agree with individuals printing the scroll from a production/packaging standpoint.
Its not really cost effective to print 300 pages, mail to CS, then CS pack pages just to ship out again.

I definitely want a 'history scroll' to accompany my first forum knife though.
Ill be first in line at the printer! :p

Something like this...

This was the first Forum Knife I'd ever gotten here at BFC and it came with all the little goodies in the top pic, Engraved Schrade 3rd Generation SS627 Canoe(?), Schrade 100 year anniversary money clip, Imperial Schrade Keyring, Schrade Whittlin' Club pin, Beaded USA Patch(?), 2 large brass/bronze Duck Stamps and assorted certificates of authenticity along with Phil Scarborough Jr.'s card, the man who I believe put the whole package together.
