2015 Forum Knife - It's Never Too Early To Think About the Next Blade Forum Knife

Here they are again guys, for your reference and all lined up nice with their respective packaging. Just to refresh everyone's memory and for those who are participating for their first or second time these are all the Traditional Forum's knives from the beginning in '06-'14.

Starting left to right...

2006 Canal Street Cutlery Ring Opener Pen(pen blade, manicure blade/file); 2007 Canal Street Cutlery Canittler(spear, pen, sheepsfoot); 2008 Northwoods Medium Stockman(clip, spey, sheepsfoot); 2009 Queen/Schatt Morgan Barlow(wharncliffe, clip); 2010 Queen Moose(spear, clip); 2011 GEC EO Jack(spear, caplifter); 2012 GEC Wharncliffe Trapper(clip, wharncliffe); 2013 GEC Congress Jack(sheepsfoot, pen); 2014 GEC Stag Jack(clip).

I like the Eureka if all the details are right. I would like to see something to make it special when compared to the previous runs.

A sunfish would also be cool.

Still, peanuts rule. :D

+1 on the Eureka. That's a pattern I've been wanting anyway. For it to be a forum knife would make it extra special.

Eh, I don't want to see a standard production item with the bladeforums stamp on it. Something like the first Eurekas they made for that SFO order would be sweet..... not exactly, but something that really looks old timey and special.

Here's a different idea for including a cap lifter secondary. This old Robeson equal end has a main spear blade and cap lifter secondary on the same spring. Nice and thin, very pocketable.

With a $100 price point we're probably limited to standard production models. The 2012 and 2013 knives were new tooling and cost well north of $100. I'd prefer going with a standard model and spending the difference on premium scales or a deep blade etch.

I'm not saying new pattern necessarily, I'm talking about exactly what you said in the last sentence. The first Eurekas that GEC made were what became their standard Eureka, but they had some sweet touches that really set it apart. The JBF Champlin Eureka Jacks are pretty sweet.

No disagreement there, Woodrow.

Nor I. I was assuming it would/could be the frame, but in some as-yet-unproduced configuration that would dazzle and amaze.

Maybe something with laser beams and a fingerprint ID lock...😉

How about a "Phillbuster"?! Ha? Just replace the pen blade with a BEER cap lifter!:thumbup::D

I'll do a prototype and have you test it Phil! :D

You could use the bottom to crush ice too! For ladies drinks and such. :D

I could get on board with this (adding the bottle opener for the small blade) as long as we keep it around 3.5" OAL.

Heck of a lineup there, Jaime. With the three 77s next to each other you can really see how possible it is to rehash a frame and have it come out looking completely different. I'm loving the Champlins at the top of that photo. Great job on some beautiful SFOs.

Cory, thanks! All pretty special knives IMO but would have to agree with you on the Champlins. A little something extra there cosmetically that just makes them seem much older than they are. Regardless of the pattern chosen I would really like the forum knife to attempt to capture the same essence.

Please yes on the Eureka. I had one, but sold it. Would love a chance at another with some beautiful bone or exotic wood.
