What shaoe should the main blade of the 2016 BladeForums knife be?

Can't we all just vote instead of posting all the backhanded comments?? Vote for what you want. If you don't like the choices and won't be voting or buying the knife, there's no need to rock the boat.

You vote, and then you discuss. It's been that way since the beginning. There's no need for armchair Moderators.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

Open mouth, insert foot.

Have already done my time in the design/cat herding on the Traditional BFC knife...the Queen Barlow with Stag...that was me and Bastid.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

I didn't see a foot insertion.

As a Robeson collector and owner of one of the sample knives, I vote SPEAR and would also like a long pull, if possible.

Clip for me long match strike pull, swedged,...but will be happy with a spear. make it a fatty tho, so I can pinch it open.

If I were voting, notably from my armchair...I'd certainly opt for SPEAR. It sits down in the Equal End frame very sleekly and makes for an elegant look open or closed.

Here's a Queen Cutlery example with patina.

Thanks, Will

Just to level the playing field a bit, clip blades definitely have their place in Equal End knives, adding interest as well as usefulness. These Schrade Cut Co and older Case examples look pretty good to me!

The top knife looks great Charlie. I love deep swedges ending right at the long pull

What's not to like about one of these? :D

+1

I really like the look of a long pull on either blade but a nice low setting spear just seams to lend it self to such a classic. Also I really love the punch on your hj8 (Washington Jack) hopping we have the opportunity to have it on the hj9.

Iregardless thank you for the hard work Charlie and the elegant knives you produce. Sincerely, Josh

I voted Spear I am Very partial to that blade shape, definitely like the idea of a match strike long pull to go with it!!:D
BUT will be on board with what ever is put forth x2 min!!:)

I voted Clip..... BUT I'd rather defer my vote to Charlie

Maybe in the future polls there should be an added option to defer to Charlie.

Thanks for that Charlie. I was kind of peeved that there was no picture of a clip version in the OP (I know that was not your post :)).
I would much prefer the clip in use, but the spear looks so much better when the knife is closed.
Form over function?
Function over form?

Can't decide yet. Either way we all win!
Thanks again.

ETA: If we made them both I would buy one of each. Just throwin it out there.

 Seconded. :D

I voted spear, long pull and swedge would be nice. Would also be happy with a clip. Will buy 2 regardless of what is chosen.

Voted... I'm not telling what.

Either way it goes, I'm happy, and appreciate everyone's hard work to make this happen

Call the Spear for I and I.:)

Looking at the tally so far I wasn't even going to vote as it is going my way already.
Knowing my luck (no matter where I go fishing be it anywhere in the world the fish say "oh here he comes lets go to Wollongong today)
just when it seems like an out and out victory for spears a busload of "clippies" will arrive from out of town and cause a landslide.
In for one as always and glad to see it on the launch pad so early in the year.

Here's a pic of a Queen S&M that might help you decide on which type. It's gonna be a spear for me.

Spear, long pull, and swedge is my vote. I am a fan of micarta for the handle material but would not turn down jigged bone.

Here is the GEC rough draft of the proposed Forum knife. Of course it has the optional Clip blade, but GEC has given us the choice of a Spear. For your viewing pleasure.
